Give me a numerical breakdown of people killed by cops by race. Do any of the other races matter to you?  I think if you looked deeper into this your mind may just open a bit about this whole thing.

Plus, to add: did you ever notice that those who have died serving this country don't get broken down racially most of the time? In the eyes of an American, they are Red, White, and Blue.

QFT

(For the record, someone does keep track of this stuff but it's not media bait.)
Wait, liberals actually paid to get into a concert?

My mom always said so. Hey.. did you see just last night white cops responded to a domestic disturbance call in Broward County and killed a black guy eating wings in his backyard? Sure he had a knife. A Swiss Army knife. When cops arrived the 56 year old said "Leave me alone." Non-compliance. He deserved to be killed, right? No other way to detain him. Black people tend to get upset when incidents like this keep happening and roughly 10% of the time an officer faces any real charge. Usually, they get paid vacation.. err.. administrative leave.

Yeah, too bad that only happens to black people.

Not exclusively, but more commonly. <a class="bbc_url" href='http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/07/data-police-racial-bias'>http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/07/data-police-racial-bias</a>
Makes you wonder why his own family called the cops of him if he was just sitting in the backyard peacefully eating chicken...

Lots of interesting studies there, several we can discount due to bias or contested methodology. On the whole, I think blacks and latino have more negative outcomes than whites, but the emphasis on one race deflects from the real issue of authoritarian government.
Did the guy deserve to die? Don't think so, unless he became aggressive with the knife (swiss army or not, they make shanks and shivs a lot smaller in prison that can do damage and kill). Police are taught to take it one step beyond to apprehend and protect. You use a fist, they use a taser. You use a knife, they use a gun. Did he go after the cops with a knife? If he did, I'd call it a justified shooting. After reading, he was given numerous commands to comply and he refused.

There's all kinds of police out there. There's the corrupt and murderous, and there's the honest and heroic. Either way, people need to stop being so damn non - compliant and follow orders when given. I guarantee you, If the guy followed the commands given, he'd still be alive today.

You are absolutely right. I'll admit it.

A guy twice their age armed with a Swiss Army knife and a chicken wing. Three cops with tasers and batons. But they go for the gun first. I agree people should comply. But if for whatever reason they don't (drunk, drugs, tough guy, deaf, etc.) why is it so common among cops to go for the gun first? Yet another instance where a body camera would tell if such force was necessary. Based on what I have read, it sure doesn't sound like it.

It was a domestic disturbance call. When the police arrived he was eating wings. Not saying he didn't do anything wrong prior. Even his family member who called the police said, had I any idea this is how they would respond I would never have called.

Not down playing what happened to this gentlemen at all, but what do you think his family is going to say?

The facts we know indicate lethal force was not necessary to take out an old man armed with a Swiss Army knife and a chicken wing.

That old man and his knife and chicken wing were bad enough that his own family called the cops on him. So obviously something more was going on then him just sitting there eating chicken. When two of your family members get into an argument, do you call the cops if they're just yelling at each other?

Again, not saying he should have been killed AT ALL, but the family isn't an unbiased account of what happened. Something more was going on than just a grumpy old man sitting in the back yard.
So their account should be dismissed entirely. Sure. Body cameras are unbiased. If only they were wearing one.
