Again, we had this conversation a few years ago. Social democracy does not equal democratic socialism.

Social democracy is when people vote for a government that will ensure them a minimum level of government support, should they need it, and that support is funded by heavy taxes.  All OECD countries are social democracies, even though some of them have figurehead monarchs.  The US is significantly less generous and lower tax than most other OECD countries, but it is still a social democracy. When Bernie Sanders says he is for socialism, he really means he is for a heavier level of social democracy.  

Socialism is when the government operates a productive business for the benefit of the state or the people rather than for private profit.  Saudi Arabia, Norway, and Venezuela all are partially socialist because of their ownership of the oil company.  However among the three only Norway is also a social democracy.  Venezuela tried to be a social democracy, I mean the voters did, but Chavez abused their hopes in a big way.  It's all a very dangerous game however you define it.

When was rhe last time you actually smelled gasoline at a gas pump? They're putting something else in our cars right now.

Venezuela was socialist. Denmark isn't. Controlling one sector of industry does not make the whole nation socialist. Is it a true capitalist economy? No. It's a mixed economy, with SIGNIFICANT emphasis on private industry and no desires to control other private industries. Venezuela was also a mixed economy with much more emphasis on controlling the means of production, oil was not the only private sector controlled by this country, nor was that the goal. Their leader called himself socialist and vowed to turn the nation into a socialist country. 

Saudi Arabia is a mixed economy that is controlled by an absolute monarchy, which isn't socialism any more than any other absolute monarch in history would be considered socialism. It's basically private, complete control of enterprise. The Nordic model is unique. It's kind of an anomaly. It's still primarily capitalist, but it's the beacon of hope for the misguided socialist. 

Speaking of Bernie, your wrong about him, which surprises me because you are almost never wrong. Bernie knows the difference between social democrat and democratic socialist. You don't.
