The only problem I had with Minshew was his arm strength, as well as his tendency to completely disappear after a string of good games. It just seems like once teams have enough tape on him, he's neutralized. That's what separates the greats from the rest. I do think that as of right n ow, you can argue that Minshew is a better NFL QB than Trevor.
We never should have traded Minshew. He'd be a much better backup than anyone on this roster.
I think he'll get a shot to start somewhere else at some point, and he deserves one.

Minshew had a knack for when protection fell apart and it was almost certain he was going to get lit up and take a sack, he’d still duck, dodge and juke his way out and make a play downfield.
The problem with that is those are low probability plays that he somehow made happen multiple times in his short stint. From a coaching perspective, you can’t bet that those low probability plays are going to continue to be made though. You have to recognize it for what it is… a lot of luck. He’s serviceable otherwise and a great personality, but I don’t believe he’s a difference maker at QB.

I think that being a coaches' kid and kinda of being a journeyman/victim of instability throughout college gave him plenty of smarts not to be overwhelmed by the newness of playing in the NFL. But, as others said, once the film was out there, teams kinda figured him out.
If he starts, he'll probably be a bandaid until the team can draft a franchise guy. He'll stick around for ages though as a backup, he's bright enough to pick up new systems in a hurry and be good enough not to cost games should he be called into service. Guys like Charlie Whitehurst and Chase Daniel made a small fortune filling that role .
He's accurate, and he knows where to go with the ball. Too bad hes not our back up.

His inaccuracy was as much his downfall here as anything else.
He had a meteoric run when Foles was injured, but he couldn't sustain it, and has yet to consistently show such ability ever since.
Keeping him around would've been a headache with a rookie QB in front of him that has miles more inherent athletic gifts and a portion of the fanbase too in love with a mustachioed flash-in-the-pan.
He was fun to root for, had oodles of "it factor," but he's gone and for good reason.
I'd love to see him have another run of good play like 2019, but it's unlikely.

I think if Pederson were here he wouldn't have made up a fake QB competition and would have clearly defined his role which would have made this issue significantly less

Chase Daniel still raking it in for LAC.

I know! Good gig if you can get it:
Quote:we find that over his $41m career earnings Daniel has earned around $230,000 per completed pass.

Minshew is a better qb then people give credit too.
Get used to it Wolfie. Minshew will forever be an Back Up QB within the NFL. If a team thought otherwise of him, they would've traded to get him as their starter. Minshew put his [BLEEP] on his shoulder because we drafted TL16 and we all know that he was an Stop Gap QB for us. Yes there was Minshew Mania but it too is now playing the Back Up role.
Let it go because he's gone and is relegated to being a Back Up.
NH3...
Minshew is fine where he is. I think he starts in Philly at some point this year. I just dont think Hurts has 'it'. He may put up a lot of total yards, but hes still erratic as a passer. Legs bail him out more often than not.
Minshew is the best QB on the Eagles' roster.

Agreed.
3rd best TD to Int ratio in the league
1. Rodgers
2. Mahomes
3. Minshew
4. Wilson
5. Brady
I'm perfectly fine that we didn't keep Minshew. This fanbase is insane sometimes, and the first sign of a Trevor struggle would have people twitching for Minshew to start.
I would have kept Minshew. Regardless of how the fanbase felt. The arm talent and overall athleticism is vastly different between the two of them though. Those are simply things you cannot teach. That was going to be Lawrence's competitive edge regardless of draft stock.
Minshew has a little bit of Tony Romo escape ability to his pocket awareness. He's not afraid to take hits in the pocket but he's not going to sit back and take it neither. He just doesn't have the strongest arm and that's why he'll be a back-up for the most part in his career. You really have to shorten the field with him. As he cannot make every throw.
If Hurts falters early it's very possible Minshew is given yet another opportunity to test his mettle as a starting quality QB. I hope he makes it. Here's the biggest takeaway for me though. Something Wolfie and a few other Minshew loyalists on here fail to call out.
It was Minshew's job to lose in 2020. He lost it. Think about that. He didn't do enough to prevent this team from landing the number one overall draft pick. He didn't do enough to elevate the same exact player personnel that Lawrence ultimately inherited, with a few minor differences in one off season. He also had a more competent coaching staff with NFL experience at his disposal.
So, for all of his TD's this, and INT ratio that? He wasn't good enough to fend off the wolves.
