It got worse when they married and even worse when their son was born. A lot of people weren't down with a biracial woman "sullying" the family and the gene pool.

Harry and Meghan have their own stuff going on.  I don't want to say anything ill of Meghan, because I have no idea what it's like to be her and I have no idea what gets said in her DMs or what random royal staff may or may not have said to her.
But everyone's got haters.  I wish she could have stayed above the fray more.  Maybe she will, going forward. I hope their marriage stays together and their kids have healthy childhoods.

My only criticism is of people that flee the royal life due to invasion of privacy. And then give interviews every other week.

To be fair, I don't think they're trying to have their cake and eat it too.  They moved away from the people who made the cake, and then other people started offering them cake anyways.
I wouldn't turn down someone who wanted to interview me on TV or for a big magazine.  Would you?  It's not that she has the interviews.  It's that she has sometimes said things that didn't need to be said in them.  And the other royals, including Queen Elizabeth RIP, returned the favor more than once.

Why was this woman hated so much? If you go on Twitter, these people are celebrating her passing. So much cruelty.. I don't understand it..

Anyone help me out here?

Some of their responses make me sick to my stomach..

Going on Twitter for comments on politics or  political figures is a mistake if you’re looking for anything but negativity.

Because she was a really, really, really rich old white lady who at one point reigned over a butt ton of the planet. She owns the most land on the planet too. She could only be hated more if she had been a man.

It's different when you have the choice of who you talk to. From what I understand the royal rota gets first dibs on everything and the palace determines what you can say, who you can say it to, what goes on your social media accounts, etc.

H&M have been pretty quiet over here other than that ridiculous Oprah interview.

I think there was a come to Jesus conversation after that interview and they were told in no uncertain terms that stuff like that wouldn’t be tolerated if they wanted to retain any of the perks of being Royal.

We can be sure that British authorities killed many families and displaced many villages in Nigeria and in other places over the colonial years.
We can be equally sure that such activities also took place prior to the arrival of British authorities.
But most of all we can be sure that QEII had nothing to with any of it.

Irrelevant. Demeaning the image of a cis-gendered white woman of privilege by a dark-skinned 'victim' is the height of wokeness. The additional wish of cruelty was bonus points. He will now be feted and promoted.

I don't even know what perks they have left. Harry makes no money as a royal, Charles cut him off. They make their own money, bought their own house, run their own charity organizations. Harry works for some outfit in CA. They have huge deals with Spotify and Netflix.

I think all they have as perks is their title of Duke and Duchess. Unless he goes full [BLEEP] he'll always be Prince Harry and 4th in line to the throne. Not that he wants to sit on that thing.

I'd rather be free of all that crazy. The perks would not be worth it. Princess Anne did right by her kids by not allowing them titles and telling them at an early age they would have to work. Andrew did the opposite but somehow his daughters turned out pretty good anyway.

Regardless, I'm glad someone said something to H&M. They should have been embarrassed.

Carnegie Mellon statement:
""We do not condone the offensive and objectionable messages posted by Uju Anya today on her personal social media account," the university posted on Twitter. "Free expression is core to the mission of higher education, however, the views she shared absolutely do not represent the values of the institution, nor the standards of discourse we seek to foster."

Reality:
"We won't fire her or even put her on admin leave because we actually agree with her woke position."

And btw, what the [BLEEP] kind of a position is "associate professor of second language acquisition"? Sounds like a position you get with one of those 100k degrees that qualify for student loan forgiveness.

I bet the grad assistants in the Modern Languages dept. would have loved to use that title instead of "Spanish 102 instructor"
King Charles. God save the King. From the office of the King. It all sounds weird. I guess 70 years of using the word queen will do that.

Evidently he will be officially recognized as king at an ascension ceremony tomorrow.

I don't know about the title, but the job description sounds a lot like my high school French teacher.
Someone explain to me why I'm seeing a bunch of nasty stuff about the queen that passed? I get it the royal family in the past did some bad stuff that was centuries ago why do Irish and Scottish people hate them now? Isn't the royal family just celebrity anyways?

I keep seeing people post that she was some oppressor and stuff what gives?

Because horrible people feel inclined to remind others how horrible they are?

Nobody retweets a simple statement of condolences or sympathy. Gotta stir the pot if you want attentions
It's been incredibly sombre over here today. Wall to wall news coverage, sports cancelled and tributes everywhere. Going to be like this for all next week until her funeral. A lot of people incredibly sad and upset over her death.

Talking off people saying horrible stuff on social media, there was a lady who posted a video on Facebook popping champagne and dancing over her death. She owns a fish and chip shop and an hour later over 150 local residents had descended on her shop and started throwing eggs. The police had to escort her to safety and then they started throwing rocks. I get people don't like the Royals, I have some issues myself but a lot of people are upset and they will lash out at those they think are celebrating this.

It's nothing more than a bunch of ignorant and irrelevant people that post such "hate".  I know that some Irish people (southern Ireland) probably hate the monarchy, but it would be surprising to me if there were many Scottish people that felt the same way.

For the most part (as I understand it) the monarchy is more "symbolic" than anything else.  The king/queen doesn't really have any significant power.

Queen Elizabeth served her kingdom in a very dignified way for over 70 years.  Each country within the kingdom has their own government.

I may be wrong and perhaps some of our users from the UK could elaborate a bit more.

You are right. While most of the government is titled HM Government (Her Majesty) they have given up most of their real power and are largely symbolic. Their main duties are attending events and openings. They do things like attend parliament when it starts new terms and the Prime Minister has to ask the Queen/King to form a government but those are largely symbolic events aswell.

Most of the decisions made are done by the government which is elected and the royals mainly stay out of those decisions. Countries in the commonwealth also have their own governments which again make decisions but see the Queen as their head of state, again mainly a symbolic gesture rather than having any real rule over them.
