It was definitely very deflating.  I imagine the team was deflated, too.  And I also imagine it got into Trevor's head and affected his confidence.
This is when you want your QB to have the independent mindedness of Peyton Manning. I could totally see him telling the coach “Let’s not do that play.”

He just needs to throw it away in that situation.

But on the topic, the season as a whole, as the frustration and emotion of watching that game wear off, the fact remains, we could be 7-1.  The Philly game was the only game I thought we were overmatched.  Last year this team was totally incompetent, and this year, we are so close to winning.

We're leaving our CBs one on one late in these games, with the lead, and we keep getting burned.  Whether Trevor ever pans out is a legitimate question, but still, we are so close to winning these games.  We need better CBs and we need for Trevor to stop making stupid mistakes.

This is a very dangerous time, when it would be so easy for the players to lose their faith or Trevor to lose confidence.
This team does not know how to win.

That's a vague statement that I hear all the time that really doesn't mean much.

And a coach who recognizes the limitations of his QB and doesn’t put him in those situations. Why would he call that play when 1st and goal on the 1st down with a RB who’s having a banner day? It was a stupid, stupid call. It’s not a question of whether Trevor should have thrown it away, it’s the glaring fact of that play should have not been called.

Doug is trying to push Lawrence too hard and in the progress is throwing away games. Doug Pederson is laying a dog turd as a coach right now.
It was a bad play call. But he still can’t make that throw. Reminds me of Russ in the SB. Just run the damn ball. QB sneak. Something. Keep the ball out of the air. Damnit man. Traveled 5k miles for that [BLEEP] to happen right in my damn face. [BLEEP]
yes trevor played bad yeterday, so did the rest of the team.  the franchise is such losers though no one could help them win. They could have Bill Belchick ,tom brady, randy moss, gronk all in thier prime, and jags would still lose.

they could have the 72 undeafted dolphins on jags, and jags would still lose.

It was a horrible play call and a horrible decision by Trevor.

I’m convinced Doug is trying to manufacture cheap passing tds to boost Trevor’s confidence or something. All this cute crap when you actually have a good running attack is infuriating.

That said, bad pass and bad choice by Trevor.
  • Defense is missing too many pieces to make stops late when opponents exploit its weaker positions
  • Trevor's accuracy has been too inconsistent to win with the past few weeks
  • The OL cannot protect long enough to take deep shots with any regularity - Cam/Shatley/Fortner are all getting beaten in protection - someone complained about downfield passing - this is why we don't see it
  • The team misses Agnew on ST and on the offense - he always has a spark play or two
  • Oluokun isn't the same since he got hurt and came back - he was playing really well, and now it's just solid
  • We don't have DBs that can play man coverage effectively enough to be counted on when the opponent's scheme demands it
  • The team has improved from 2021, but it's not good enough to overcome turnovers and other costly mistakes, they have to play mistake free football to win - That's a tall order for a young team in year one of a system
  • They'll find a way to scrape out a few more wins I'm sure, but it will be tough until another injection of talent occurs and Trevor settles back into the groove he had going earlier this season

- No outside playmaking WR
- Lack of a pass rush

Some good insight from Mia. Looks like the FO is FINALLY recognizing they need a receiver who can win 1 on 1 matchups and they don't need to be schemed open.
I'm just numb to it all hahaha 2-6 after 8 games is about what I thought. I do think they get 4 or maybe 5 wins in the 2nd half of the season though. They have no chance to beat the Chiefs but they can compete with all the rest.

My main issue with this entire season is that this team doesn't play complementary football and they find AMAZING ways to lose. Let's just look at a couple late game situations shall we?

1. Jags take a 17-13 lead against the Giants in the 3rd quarter. Jags actually stop them on 4th down! Punt by the offense. Defense then does another great job! Then the offense is putting together a drive to close this thing out and the refs botch 2 FIRST DOWN CALLS. Doug doesn't challenge, they go for it on 4th down and don't get it. Then Trevor actually leads a drive to win the game only to be stopped on the 1!

2. Colts game. Trevor has 2 INCOMPLETIONS THE ENTIRE GAME. He leads a 10 minute drive which is capped off with a TD to Kirk to take a 27-26 lead. Defense has been resting FOREVER. No pass rush but they manage to get 3rd and 13 on the 32. If they stop them here, it's about a 49 yard field goal for the clots. Maybe he misses..... NOPE! Old Matt Ryan who is benched for Ehlinger drops a bomb to Pierce. Game over.

These are just the 2 games that proceeded another epic collapse on Sunday against the Broncos. This team has had a full season or more of back breaking losses in remarkable fashion and it's only week 8. I don't even know what to think anymore but I'll be along for the ride. Trevor has had some bad games but I'm still all in. Not sure how good anyone would be throwing the ball to Zay fricking Jones and old Marvin (crucial drop Sunday). They should have been aggressive like the Dolphins and Eagles but they suck.

It's that or overcoaching, thinking "We're running well, so the D is gonna sell out to stop ETN, why not fool em with a bootleg lol"

Lombardi knew every team knew they were gonna run the sweep. They still called the sweep, because it worked, even when they knew you were gonna run it.

We gotta get that mindset. Not fancy. Punch you in the nose. If you counter, we punch you in the nose again.
I think the Jags and Colts have the same problem. Both teams need QB who are leaders and who can play.

We spent a lot of money on Wrs this offseason and right now the results show they do not matter. All this happened while we got a RB who looks explosive. That tells me the QB is the problem and not a lack of a WR.

Just look at TN. Their WR room is horrible and are they going out to get one? Nope they actually traded their alpha and made their D stronger. Why? They have a QB.

We have to stop fooling ourselves. Keep drafting a QB until you get one. This year we should be able to get a QB again. I'd sell Lawrence now.

OR we spent a lot of money on WRs who do not matter instead of on some who would.

The tacks have a QB? Seriously? No, they have a running back and a play caller who emphasizes him. Geez.
there is one major reason jags can't win.   its more simple then people think.

the jags are way to Predictable. I look spelling up for the last word,i hope its right.

Jags plays are very Predictable.

We are on track to win 4-5 games, and have been competitive in every loss. All 1 score losses. A lot of folks here, including myself, saw this as reasonable based on the last 4 years. However, they messed up the expectations by blowing out 2 teams in a row, including a Chargers team that no one gave them much of a chance against. So expectations were probably unrealistically reset.

Caldrac hit on something early on that I believe is significant. We have drafted Favre 2.0, and we need to temper our expectations based on that. The original model was a reckless gunslinger who didn't seem to think a lot about where he was throwing it early on, and just figured he could get any ball into any coverage, anytime. He had to eventually be reeled in by various head coaches so that he could achieve his best level of success. Lawrence, for good or bad, has some of this ingrained in him, and up to becoming a pro, has for the most part gotten away with it. How much of these bad tendencies can coached out of him while still retaining the good will go a long way to determining if he's going to be what most people expected him to be.
