Caveat emptor.

It's also the Raiders, so there's that. And he's dirt cheap.

I don't think he'll make some career resurgence or anything, but there's a reason why he was projected to be an early round pick

They also cut Leatherwood and I think Ferrell will more than likely not be back next year. They traded Mack away and tried to replace him with Jones in the off season and it's not working out.

The reality is that the Raiders are dysfunctional. As they have typically been now for nearly two decades. That team lost it's heart and soul when Al Davis died and his Mark, he tries, but he's not him. Even with them moving to Las Vegas they still get rid of the funk of failure around them.

Just like the Cowboys fanbase. They cling onto the pass and that's all they can throw at you when you point out how mediocre and overrated they are on a national level in spite of their history.

Exactly. And that's all I'm saying. Is Abram the savior at SS? Most likely not. But we have a need and he's probably better than Dewey whether people want to admit it or not. And he's cheap. I don't think it hurts to put a claim in for him. Especially since we have a bye week coming up to get him in the system for a bit before he'd ever play.

Mack was traded like 4 years ago lol.  I believe Farrell is who they tried to replace Mack with.  They should of drafted Josh Allen or Burns

You're right. I am all over the place this morning.

Again, never said he'd be a savior. But it's not like Wingard doesn't get beat like a drum in coverage most times either. Just saying, I'd take a flyer on him, there's no downside
I want to like him. He makes the occasional play, but I feel he just lacks the talent.

Got a feeling he is going to get shredded against the chiefs if he plays

I'd put money on it

He may make a few plays in the box, but if he has to run in coverage, look out.

This is the one game where I would like to see them do something along the lines of LB's and S's playing man coverage and the outside guys playing zone. Kelce has to have somebody on him at all times. Don't care if it's Lloyd or Cisco or a rotation of them going up into the box to pinch him down or running out with him. You have to stay on him. He's the guy that runs it all for Mahomes.

When it's short change needed? It's Kelce. When he's scrambling after things breakdown? It's Kelce. You lose containment on Kelce? You lose this game. It's as simple as that. Having Wingard on him or giving him that responsibility is just bad coaching in my opinion. Sometimes you need to put your best player on their best player and may the best man win.

AND... for the love of all that is holy and sacred in the game of football. Can Allen and Walker finally show up in the pass rushing department and put a [BLEEP] in the dirt?!? C'mon now. This is the game to get it done. This is a big boy game. Big time players make big time plays in big boy games. You want the NFL to take you seriously? You at least make this a scrappy dog fight until the final whistle and make these [BLEEP] sweat a little in a close loss or you sneak a win out last minute. It can be done.

Just comes down to who wants it more.

Walker actually leads all rookie defenders with 16 pressures FWIW.

Mahomes is so slippery and completes so many passes on the run, I wonder how they plan to attack him?
We don't have the coverage to sit back and just contain him. I guess they'll chase him around as best they can.

I think our defense gives up 4 scores at least.  31 points is my best guess.
It' will take multiple turnovers to squelch that IMO.

Jags offense may have to hang in there and be consistent in a shoot out.

This is why I think they need to control the tempo on offense and try to get the running game heavily involved, not at the expense of Etienne's health, but, Hasty, Conner, etc.

Those guys all need to come up big in key drives. Nice, long sustained drives with points to cap them off. I think if they can do that, not make the big mistakes, not get greedy and gamble too much on 4th downs, etc.

They can sneak out a win here. Also, much like the great Josh Allen debate. When are all of those pressures for Walker and Allen going to translate into actual statistics that get counted and matter?

He's playing SS now right? So maybe instead of sliding off the screen 40 yards off the ball this week he will line up in the backfield every play instead.

Not playing single high FS will keep him from over running deep routes on bad angles like he did last year, but being in the box isn't going to keep him clear of having to cover. And there are few better coaches in the league at exploiting mismatches in coverage than Andy Reid.

If he plays the whole game - Reid will find ways to make him cover and it could get ugly.
We've seen Griffin and Herndon get picked on.
When Reid puts a Y route and F route on the field together,  Wingard will likely cover the F most of the time that happens and that is usually Kelce.

I apologize for the auto correct. Did you use to be on a sports talk show on the radio?

Wingard’s light bulb has came on as of late.

He played 12 defensive snaps vs the raiders.

What exactly did that change?

(Prior to that he played 4 defensive snaps all season)
