Cisco is the truth

This is part of the argument. If Cisco keeps turning WR into mannequins officials are gonna start throwing flags, whether the hits are legal or not. Wrap up. Eyes on your target.

That's [BLEEP] though. It shouldn't matter if it's legal. Obviously you don't want to injure someone, but just because it's a pattern of big hits doesn't mean it should get flagged more than someone else.

You're correct that it will happen. It's just [BLEEP]

One more reason why defense is irrelevant. The NFL wants to be the Arena League played outdoors, so go build an AFL team.

You read as a bitter old man.

Cisco broke up 2 huge plays that would have ended the game in KC.

Until they put flags around the waists of WR,TE, and RB we're still playing football.

Our secondary plays.  And they are live.

The problem is pass rush.  That's the weak link right now.

Just because our pass rush is weak doesn't confirm your "defense is irrelevant" hot take.

Though I'm sure Dan Lebetard and Jim Rome would fawn all over your keen perception.

I don't like the idea of playing "wrap up". The target is to force an incompletion. Not allow it and then play wrap up. Kind of tired of the NFL babying offensive players while handicapping defensive players.

You shouldn't be able to get away with this [BLEEP] over the middle the way today's offenses do and if refs are going to throw flags on critical 3rd and long situations where QB's are now emboldened with receivers to make those throws into traffic?

They need to be reviewed just like they were with Cisco's two incidents. Flags were picked up on both hits. I think it's a good start. However, again, defenders should be able to hit players mid flight and catching attempts. The entire game is catered to them now.

On the first hit, Cisco's helmet is standing still and it is clearly the Chief's player's helmet that moves towards and ultimately hits Cisco.  I agree with those that say, if anything, it was a penalty on the Chiefs.
Cisco was popping like crisco.

I loved it. Lets hope he keeps it up.
Got fined

Oh yeah he was definitely getting some paper in the mail for both hits.

Still waiting on your answer.

There's nothing bitter about the truth. The League wants offense, spending premium picks and FA dollars on defenders is obsolete.

It's true. I suspect eventually hitting the QB will become illegal and rushers will have to count "one Mississippi, two Mississippi" before pursuing the QB. ;-)

No, it'll just be No Contact rules eventually. QBs are way more defenseless while looking downfield and in the act of throwing than WRs are going over the middle.

American Football circa 2050:
  • Players will wear devices that will track forward motion and momentum over a period of time (secs/millisecs).  That device will then determine if the ball carrier has been stopped and if the play is over.
  • Causing any player to fall to the ground will be a penalty.
  • No contact with WR's will be allowed until they have had a chance to catch the ball or have caught the ball.
  • Any and all contact with the QB will be illegal.
  • All officiating will be done by drones and other video devices via pattern recognition for holding, PI, illegal formations, neutral zone infractions, etc., much in the same way that Hawkeye in tennis monitors line and let calls.  Automated calls can be challenged with human review from the booth.

I don't hate that part

This is probably more accurate than you might think. I suspect helmets will change to look more like the training helmets they were using in training camp this year. Players will look like the Great Gazoo.
