Lamar is better, but he's also overrated.  Teams have keyed on his running ability and he can't win with his arm and he sucks at reading defenses.

I'm not saying I have any insider information or anything...  But the smack they talked about Kyler just seems so suspect.  He plays video games in his off time so they put that in the contract?  You don't think that all these 20 year olds are playing video games?

ehh... whatever.  I'm just saying that even with all the video game playing, the dude took a 3 win team to the playoffs in 3 years.  And even after that, they still decided to make him look like a schmuck.  You'd think you'd want to praise a guy like that...

They're not flippantly putting that in the contract unless it's interfering with their expectations of how their face of the franchise #1 pick QB should be divvying up his "free time" and perhaps also his level of focus during preparation throughout the week.  I'm presuming they expect he spend some of his "free time" toward improving his game and they clearly weren't seeing that. No one's saying he can't play video games ever, but for some, gaming is an addiction and it can definitely interfere with other aspects of a person's life and career.  Nothing motivates a change in behavior quite like money.

I don't know how many professional jobs you've had.  But I've had to deal with a lot of [BLEEP] with people.  There are ways to get the message across within a contract/memo/write-up/Disclosure/etc.., without it being obviously embarrassing to the individual subject to the written document....

But again, whatever.  It's not like I really care.  I don't.  I'm not a Kyler Murray supporter or anything.

I just find the whole thing intersting in terms of who is baby faced and who is heeled within the NFL world.  Honestly, to think that Lamar Jackson isn't getting high and playing video any more than another QB is just silly to me.

I'm kinda sorry that I brought it up, because now I'm playing "Devil's Advocate" over a discussion between 2 QBs that I honestly don't think are really any good.

Fair point, but it's also why I say they don't put that in there flippantly.   It's clearly been a problem in their eyes, and I would put odds on it that they discussed this with him multiple times leading up to the contract negotiation without a change in behavior on his part.  It's not something that just shows up at contract time.

BTW, you shouldn't need to question someone's job/career status as a means to validate your take if your reasoning is sound and I'm not suggesting it isn't.  I am a credentialed professional and I've dealt with a lot of contracts in my time, but that really shouldn't matter here since neither of us writes NFL player contracts or knows what the Cardinals front office knows.

Just want to load up a bowl for ya'll to smoke on...

In a QB Driven League:

Dakota          Prescott    - 14TDs and 9 INTs
Trevor "TNB" Lawrence  - 20TDs and 6 INTs

Edit:  Prescott was out 5 games...  Look at that INT  number for being out 5 games...

Hope our D will increase the INT number by 3 or 4  Ninja
and TLaw will score to give the Jags the win.

I think outside of the fact that they both run a lot, there's little to compare between the two. Maybe if Murray had coaches and front office like Lamar has, he'd be able to shake some of the concerns that many hold. But for me, Lamar is head and shoulders (literally) over Murray.
Can't wait for Campbell vs Lamb

Since you're living in Texas, I get it.  I'd still take a nice sweep of the Tacks over beating Dallas, but...

I've had to live in Texas before.  I get it.
If the team that beat the Vikings shows up Sunday, then it's going to be a long day.

If the loser of the Bucs / Cowboys game shows up, then we roll.

I figure its going to be somewhere in the middle of those two.

A lot of that game was the Vikings best Tackle getting injured early and Cousin never having enough mobility/pocket awareness in to deal with it. Also that offense only moves the ball right now when they push vertical with Jefferson.

While the Jags, OL has some issues; Lawrence is much better with navigating the pocket and getting the ball out quickly. I also think while, the Jags don't have an elite WR, having multiple capable receiving options makes the passing game able to work against Dallas.

The biggest thing will be not going away from running the ball. Even throwing in some draws and screens from odd alignments/looks to keep the pass rushers guessing will be extremely important in this game.
https://thelandryhat.com/2022/12/13/cowb...s-week-15/

"Dallas’ patchwork secondary must shut down Lawrence to win, and will have to rely on tertiary receiving options like Noah Brown again if the running game gets bottled up. Predicting a narrow Cowboys win, 23-21, with Lawrence’s final drive stalling at the 50."

Reading back on what I wrote, I can see why you would take it as "insulting" or me looking down my nose at you.  I assure you, that's not what I meant.  I was just trying to explain from my experience how I formed my opinion on this matter.

But, with that said, I apologize because I sound like a total [BLEEP] and that was not my intent!

This is the week to get the run blocking and ETN back on track.

dallas have given up 100+ rushing yards in 8 games this season

They are a below average run defense but one of the best pass defenses in the league. Gotta take advantage and I'd add Trevor's legs to the game plan. Control some clock while you're at it.

Thanks for clarifying and no worries.  Go Jags!
My neighbor for whom I do some caregiver duties for is a huge Dallas fan. We were talking football yesterday and how the Texans almost beat Dallas and he definitely had some words to say about that. Lol.

I told him about our fantastic win over our division rival who we have haven't beat in their house since 2013 and shared some of the stats. He said congrats and some other nice things. Then I told him we play each other Sunday. He got a look on his face and said, "Oh God," in a certain tone of voice. I told him not to worry; if Dallas beats us I'll still show up to do his laundry and run his errands next week. Big Grin

He's in his 70s and a nice guy who always wants be polite like, "good luck to your team" or whatever. He was really struggling yesterday. Lol.

What if he was saying "Oh God" because he realized that if the Jaguars beat his girls, he's gonna have to fire you, and he doesn't want to do that!!

LOL!!

These cowgirl fans are crazy!

Then we might win. Unlike the Tacks, Dallas can pass, so you cant really make them one dimensional if they need to play from behind.
