Quote:It's a really good contract if Beachum does live up to the deal, too. It's already the 13th highest average for LT over that span, not including all of the FA LT's that will sign deals over the next 4 years. He'll be a bottom half LT by next year, and probably a bottom 10 paid one by the end of the deal. Excellent contract for us.
It really is. Dave worked his magic on this one. Beachum just wanted some long-term security and it didn't seem like PIT wanted to do that. Luckily Dave and Gus showed just how badly we needed him and gave him probably a promise that he'd be our LT (which he should be as he's shown to be a very good LT in this league).
This team isn't going to get every highly touted player on the market. There is 31 other teams, and some others teams that are a LOT more attractive destinations. Sitton signed with the first team he visited, and I think there's a pretty obvious reason that the first team he visited is the team that is about 3-4 hours south of GB and one of their biggest rivals.

I agree and it was a shrewd deal by Dave.
Asked why he signed with Chicago, Sitton said this:

<p style="font-family:Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif;font-size:16px;color:rgb(72,73,74);">"Honestly, it didn't have anything to do with sticking it to the Packers," Sitton said Monday. "I'm more familiar with the division. [Chicago is] close to where I was. I like the weather up here. We had a few other teams interested. It's too damn hot in the south."

<p style="font-family:Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif;font-size:16px;color:rgb(72,73,74);">So there you have it....   We never had a chance. He didn't like our climate.

So we don't fire Caldwell now?

Nah, still fire Caldwell. He should of changed the weather down in Jacksonville.

He obviously isn't the right guy for the job, fire him now.

WELP!
Quote:I think it's pretty clear that Sitton wanted to go to a division rival and try and stick it to GB twice a year...
But to Chicago? Way to go 0-2 vs the Pack and 5-11 on the year.

Eh, John Fox is turning that team around. Only better option is MIN, but they also just lost Teddy and are in a worse spot offensively than CHI with Bradford/Shaun Hill.
