Agreed, he's got his chance now, but he better not mess up early or the change has to be made.

Mediocrity at its finest. I tbought Gus and Dave have said anytime we see where we can upgrade the roster, we will do that. Well parkey is a huge upgrade.

Little surprised Dave is rolling with a guy week 1 who makes you hold your breath on extra points.

I swear if we enter week 1 with meyers with all these better options open then this team is not ready to take the next step

It seems some of you are forgetting Parkey is coming off of a terrible groin injury from last year. This article says he was consistently out-performed by Sturgis in practice this offseason and he missed an extra point this preseason. He only had 1 fg attempt all preseason, which he made.

I understand the patience thing, but consistently in the preseason, Myers is hooking all of his kicks. That's not good. Hooking is not a style of play, like in bowling. I've never seen an NFL kicker who can't kick the ball straight, stay on an NFL roster. He does it on field goals and extra points and even when he makes it, the ball barely sqeaks through the uprights. I can't stand to watch him kick. It's like I'm holding my breath, praying for the ball to make it through. A strong leg means nothing when your accuracy is terrible. I'm all for sticking with a young player, but that guy has to show improvement and Myers is consistently bad.

Even if Parkey has an injury, I would still sign him and then stash him on IR if need be. Myers needs to be put on notice.

He's not currently injured. I was just pointing out that blue had a serious injury last year and that he may not be a guaranteed upgrade over Myers.

Would rather have Gus, the field goal kicking donkey.. His salary would be like, lettuce or something

Everyone's acting like Myers missed every kick he tried last year.

 

87% overall FG%.

That's 14th in the league out of qualified kickers. Mike Hollis only ever had one year better than that. Scobee beat it once in his first 7 years.

 

The kid was a rookie. He'll get this year to prove he can fix his PATs. If he doesn't, then no doubt he's gone after this season.

Why?  Will that make Myers a better kicker?
