Absolutely.

He was injured while under contract and can rehab with Jaguars. There is literature in all contracts that protects the players in this situation along with the NFLPA. 

There is also literature that protects the franchise, which means Smoot must follow procedures or his contract could be voided since he was paid while being injured. And then you have his bonuses etc.

This is correct up to the point that he's medically cleared which he was a while back. Once he's cleared then he's just another free agent and can't stay at the facilities to work. He's been in that situation the last couple months and now that he's signed he can be back to work this weekend!
