The tinhorns have beat us 9 straight times... That's embarrassing. I hope we hang 40 on them next weekend.
Only starters I'd rest are those who are banged up enough that they may benefit from one Sunday minus the wear and tear and play better in week 18 as a result. We know that at this point in the season many teams have several players playing through injuries that hold them back a bit - but they still play better than the backup - so they keep playing.

We probably have 3 or 4 of those guys we could consider resting.
The game isn't *quite* meaningless. If the Jags win, they could potentially lose in week 18 and still make the playoffs as a wild card. But they'd need help.
Still, the game is almost meaningless.
Is there anything you can do gameplan wise to minimize the chance of injury?

No way. Terrible idea

Maybe we should wrap the starters in bubble wrap and have them stay in their houses until week 18.  That would minimize chances of injury.

This is the only way I'd rest someone. If we have players who will benefit from a week off then fine but I don't like the idea of being on a 3 game win streak then resting players for 17 days to throw them in to a Win and In Playoff spot game.

If it ain't broken don't fix it.
Play to win.
Playing to win is my gut feeling as well
While I can somewhat understand saying sit some starters, I would rather not rock the boat with momentum and confidence we are building, and just go ahead and win these last 2 games and build even more momentum going into the playoffs.

Pederson is a coach I highly trust, so will just back whatever he does, but the above is my perspective on it.
Also, if there is by some crazy chance a tie, then week 17 could really also directly matter. Low odds of course, but between that an fringe wildcard hopes, likely you play all starters.

If the Dolphins and Chargers lose on Sunday, then play everyone who can play. If they don't, rest anyone on the injury report.

its even more simple now. Jags control own playoff destiny. win last 2 games, and your in. they also need to be careful, and take 1 game at a time.  Lets not forget  Texans beat jags 21-0 before, and ended thier playoff hopes in dec. . in fact it was dec. 26 2004 jags got beat 21-0.  I'm not saying jags can't win  againest texans, just they need to be ready to play, and be carefful of laying another goodegg againest texans.

I feel the total opposite, I feel like this team is getting white hot at the right time. I feel like we're gonna blow them out.

On this rare occasion, I actually agree with you. Must be the Eggnog.

We just need to beat the titans.
Perhaps we could just do more substituting.  Rotate the backups into the game more than if we had to win it.

I trust Doug to make the right decision.  He's earned my trust a hundred times over.
Incredible as it is to talk about the playoffs after the bad streak we began in week 4. About resting players, will a loss against Houston have an impact upon who we meet in the playoffs? I’d rather see us go deep, rather than just show up and lose in the first game, so if we can avoid Chiefs or Bills that would be preferable.

If we make the playoffs by beating the Titans, then we will be the #4 seed no matter what.  And, host a playoff game!  So, a loss to Houston will have no bearing on whom we play.

Thanks, was unsure how the wildcards are affecting the seeding. Good to know how the post-season plays out.
