Blunt hiring ad at butcher shop prompts employers to share wild employee excuses: ‘My cat just had puppies'

Employers said employees have tried to use exaggerated health scares and more to get out of work

mployers eagerly shared some of their most cringe worthy employee stories after a Reddit user posted a picture of a colorful local job ad this week.

The Now Hiring sign, which Reddit user CaptTripps86 said they saw posted at a local butcher shop, had a few blunt warnings for applicants.

I had a guy tell me his infant child had meningitis. That was false, btw.

I’ve had other doozies. But that one was the lowest of the low.
I worked with a guy in the Navy who avoided punishment for being late because of his crazy but true story. He was sleeping with a married woman whose husband worked nights. The husband came home early one shift and ol' boy was still in the sack with his wife. He hid between the bed and the wall and laid there for a couple of hours until the wife could distract her husband long enough for him to make an exit. This made him late for work. After telling his chain of command why he was so late they let him go because 'No one could make up a story like that.'
So he got canned anyway? Seems like for the service that excuse might cross a moral compass line.

I think “let him go” in this case means let him slide.

Correct. Plus, the military doesn't just 'let people go'. It doesn't work that way.
