They get posted around here quite a but lately.
Much has been made about ETN having big games and lesser games during the past month or so.
And - of course - many of you are probably sick of hearing me disparage our struggling O-Line. (sorry/not sorry)
Well these two things have come together in the following graphic and I'll add a description of the metric so you can connect the dots.

Think of what he could do behind a line that provided him fewer 'negatively graded blocks'. He'd probably have a breakaway run (like he had in Houston) every other game.
If we don't upgrade OL, we are wasting his explosive talent.

Yes. The chunky ones and home runs would happen with greater frequency.
This line is 28th in the league in run block win rate.

LOVE to see them get to at least an NFL average level next year.
He would have to channel his inner Barry Sanders to consistently run behind this offensive line. Line play in general has to be the focal point going into the off season here in a few months.
I wouldn't rule out any offensive lineman at any position in the opening night of the draft. It's expected Skoronski will more than likely lead the entire class overall for that group but after him?
I wouldn't be shocked if we hear names like Broderick Jones, O'Cyrus Torrence and Paris Johnson Jr. linked to us leading up to the draft and during the night of the draft. Andrew Vorhees and Dawand Jones would probably be 2nd RD options as well.
Perfectly fine by me. Especially if it means Lawrence is getting a few split seconds of time added in the pocket or these 3 - 5 negative plays Etienne gets smacked with every game is cut down to 1 - 2 or completely flipped into the positive column.
If Etienne is the '1 punch' ... Finding '2 punch' either late (5/6) in the draft or possibly free agency might go a long way to helping him out...
Trucking it up there when he's having a good game is fine, having him blasted to bits by the Dline when it's not his day... Hmmm, would be handy to save the juice and move to a change of pace at times

I'm afraid Jones and Johnson will be gone at least 5-10 spots before the Jaguars pick in round 1. Jones would be perfect because he could play guard for 1 season before replacing Robinson at one of the tackle spots. Torrence does have a decent chance of being available early in the 20's depending on how he performs at the combine and individual workouts. If the Jaguars feel there is a big gap between him and Vorhees, he might be the pick. If not, I'd prefer an Edge rusher with the first pick.

They are indeed the most guilty at losing their matchups in both the run and pass game.

Brandon Schereff has been doing poorly in run blocking all season. I know he's been battling injuries the entire time...but I expected him to be better than he is.
Would be nice to draft a quality left/right guard in the early rounds this year. I brought up the OG from USC in another thread.
Tomorrow ETN for 115 on the ground with one 40-50 yard bust for a TD. Another 50 through the air.
Stats like this are so comprehensive. I mean, think about it, the NFL didn't even begin to officially record sacks until 1982 and now there are computations of a RBs performance based on the performance of the Offensive Line. Pretty Amazing.

Jags should be able to sustain drives staying on the ground. LA Chargers (still doesn't sound right, but I grew up in Baltimore, so it should be the Indianapolis 500s) have been terrible against the run. The average per carry is 5-6 yards in last 5 games.

Yea, Vorhees is also the guy I want. Hopefully he'll be there when we pick in the 2nd round. Due to his less than ideal arm length, he has been downgraded by some to a 3rd round pick. Since he's unlikely to be available for the Jaguars late in round 3, they'd need to take him in the second or via a trade back to early in round 3. He strikes me as a tough plug and play guard who can play 4 different spots on the line, although guard is his more natural position. He also possesses the leadership and high character that the current regime values so much.
