But lets be honest, we're losing Marvin Jones.  We're probably gonna let either Arnold or Manhertz (hell maybe both) go.  I think Pederson isn't impressed with Henderson, Herndon, or Peters, so I think they are gone...  Gotsis is just a guy and is on that type of salary.  Whether he stays or goes isn't an issue to the cap.

1.  Evan Engram
2.  Marvin Jones
3.  Dawuane Smoot
4.  Arden Key
5.  Chris Manhertz
6.  Dan Arnold
7.  C.J. Beathard
8.  Andrew Wingard
9.  Jawaan Taylor
10. Adam Gotsis
11. Corey Peters
12. Tre Herndon
13. Darrell Henderson

Marvin Jones - The dude had to deal with Urban Meyer and was the only beacon of WR hope for Lawrence to target.  I'd hate to see him go.  But I just don't see him taking a discount.  I think if he does take a discount, it would be great to keep him.  But he deserves to get paid.  So, if he moves on, I wish him the best.  Dude was a great Jaguar.

I'm not that certain he is gone. He is an 11 year vet who has already made $56 million in career earnings. He has been a good WR for Jags but he has definitely taken a back seat to Zay/Kirk with a dip in numbers. He is like getting a $2-4 million/year salary next year but not more than that.

So it will probably depend on where he feels comfortable team wise, maybe location to family (he lives in San Diego during the off season), and possibly finally getting playoff success. Based on those factors Jags should still be top of that list with maybe the Chargers being the main competition. Though it is unclear if LAC are even interested.

Henderson is already gone.

i see us resiging the following
Engram
Smoot
Key
Beathard
Wingard
Herndon for depth
maybe Arnold or Manhertz good TE draft so we might draft a catching TE instead.

i think we see if Jones would be interested but he would be looking at less playtime as he is now.  so would have to be close to min.

If Jones stays at a cap friendly deal, I think most fans would be happy for him to come along for one more Playoff ride!
Should they find a way to extend Marvin?

Marvin Jones has been pretty reliable for Lawrence, and I wish he was more utilized. Sure he is aging, but I believe a veteran who can remain focused and come through in game situations is someone to keep around for a developing quarterback. The WR core currently is Zay, Kirk/Agnew, Marvin Jr/ Ridley (next year). I don’t know how productive Ridley should be next year but from what I see, If they can somehow figure out how to keep Marvin and use him for certain situations we may have a better stacked and dangerous offense. He has great poise and has come in clutch at times, he was pretty good during the chargers game. You can definitely see flashes of talent from the offense once it gets going, and he has been apart of it.

Could this workout? If so, do you think this would workout the way we would want it to?
I hope we keep Marvin and we gotta keep Engram. I'm hoping the success this year will be a notivator for these guys to stay for another year.
That list and what I said about it... I still stand by it...

This team is so good.

Everyone has been kissing Baalke's rear end for the last month or so... But my bros... He needs to keep the talent here as well. We're still on a playoff run, so I really don't care at the moment, I'm just riding the adrenalin.

But at some point, we're gonna have to face up to the offseason. But this isn't that point.

Let's [BLEEP] go!! IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THE JAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Free agency this year is going to be just retaining our own.

Engram and Key have to be your priorities. I love MJJ but he’d your 4th guy and frankly I’d like to see Agnew get his touches.
Jones is replaceable by a younger WR that is cheaper and on the way up.

He can be a coach if he wants to stay on the team. Then you can pay him if someone gets hurt. There is no way you pay him with the salary cap.

Yeah. When was the last time we had this kind of off season.

I do think we move on from MJJ but wouldn't hate it if he stuck around on a vet minimum deal.
Zay, Kirk, Ridley, Agnew... still think we need to draft a guy high ish.

Engram is priority for me. Smoot and Key also up there.
Dewey and Peters if on good team friendly deals

And with Ridley coming next year plus some draft pick, it seems like this is our last year with him.

Should we consider resigning him? He’s solid, still.

I would give him another 1 year deal and see if he takes it.  He’s come up with some very big catches this year.

Problem is that the Jags are way over the cap next year.  Even if they cut Shaquille Griffin and Roy Robertson-Harris, they won't be able to re-sign everyone like Evan Engram, Marvin Jones, Arden Key, etc.

The Jags will have some tough decisions next year, and with Calvin Ridley coming it makes Marvin Jones expendable.

They may even have to cut Jamal Agnew.  $4M to pay a guy who primarily is a KR is a luxury.

I'm going to celebrate last night's win until we lose, if we lose.  The players need to get over it.  I don't need to get over it.

Yep. If anything I extend Agnew and reduce his hit.
That spin move that MJJ did yesterday got us a critical 1st down. Dude is always clutch

That’s right.

IDK… at least in my head if I entertain keeping Marvin, I would think we would have the surprise element in having 2 interchangeable and veteran WRs that might be scary against opposing defenses, but that of course is dependent on Calvin’s play once he returns. If he returns and delivers, I could see Lawrence thrive under an offense that works with them.

Of course cap space is an issue, so whatever they decide to do they need to focus on what’s best for the team.

And a younger WR can't do the same? You already know he moves down 1 spot and doesn't play special teams. You move on from the older WR as this is a young man's game. If his replacement wasn't already signed for next year, then maybe you sign him for a cheaper deal but otherwise you can't keep him without him being a special teams player.

4-5 weeks ago, I'd have said he was gone and been fine with it. But these past few weeks, he's come up clutch. Despite having Kirk, Engram, and Zay (and to a lesser extent, ETN), TLaw has still made it a point to look to MJJ in key situations. And like Jaglyn said, that spin move to get the first was huge, so it's not like he's completely washed yet.

If MJJ is willing to take a one-year deal for a few million to be a 4th WR while Calvin gets back into game-shape and finds his role in the offense, I think the team would be well-served having MJJ. Obviously you can't break the bank for the guy, especially with all the other FA's the team should focus on, but so long as he's still TLaw's safety blanket, he's got some close-to-irreplaceable value.
Love Marvin. Love his leadership and what he’s done.

But just like Smoot, it’s a business and time to move on.
He made Samuel look silly on a few catches yesterday.
Dime a dozen. Next!

This.

He was a great value last year when we dealt with the injuries on offense— Trevor didn’t have any weapons (along with the walking coaching tragedy Wallbash ) and you could definitely argue and look at stats to see that Marvin was his #1. If we were faced with this scenario for next year I’d be pretty happy, especially with what we’re seeing from him lately.
