In the days of my youth, a Famous Amos patty melt was a go-to post-last-call meal.
Good times.

Metro Diner may be the best local greasy spoon, but it won't help you at 2am.
(over 50 locations nationwide now, BTW)

$18 for french toast or w/e it is now

no thanks to metro diner, go rob someone else.
I'm not sure why Jacksonville is criticized for Waffle House.  Atlanta has 37 Waffle Houses compared to only 14 in Jacksonville.

FWIW, if I go to Waffle House,I get the All Star Special, but I'm not a big fan of the place.  I just think it is very generic.  I prefer the creativity of some place like Metro Diner which happens to actually be a chain that started in Jacksonville.  I know we are talking about breakfast, but if we expand to all meals, Firehouse Subs started here in Jacksonville.  It now has over 1,100 locations in almost 800 cities.

BTW, if anyone ever sees Kornheiser, tell him to try the waffles.  It grows hair.

Quite the story, that is. The brothers opened their first store in Mandarin in the late 90s. 25 years later, they sell the franchise for a BEELYUN doll hairs. 'murica.
