The Vols survive in OT in an ugly game against a Sun Belt team.
It reminded me a lot of the game Auburn had last year against Jacksonville State. At the time, Auburn was over-ranked in the top 10. Barely beats Jacksonville State and stumbles to a 7-6 record.
Tennessee is ranked (for some reason) in the top 10 and needed a recovered fumble in the end zone to beat Appalachian State. Tennessee had no business being in the top ten and will have quite an epic tumble. Auburn fell to 18 after their OT win, we will see where Tennessee falls.
At first I was surprised Tennessee was only favored by 20.5, but then after looking into it more I could see that App St had a good year and returned alot of starters. I agree UT is overrated. So is their coach.
The only SEC fans that think UT is a top 10 team are vols. There is no reason they should be ranked that high.
Butch Jones is really good at yelling, frowning, and making his face turn purple... other than that I dont know what he does that is so great.
Next stop... Battle in Bristol.
I know Mississippi State is not ranked but never would have picked Southern Alabama to win that one.
The biggest upset today was LSU losing at Lambeau Field to unranked Wisconsin.
SEC fans aside from UT and LSU fans have been laughing at how overrated those two teams were. UT seems to get respect because they played close in the 4 games they lost and returning the same players. UT offense runs through Dobbs and I have been saying he is overrated. He is good, but a terrible passer and App State drew the blue prints on how to completely neutralize them. Take away Dobbs space to run and the whole offense crumbles. LSU was overrated in basically every aspect. Yes LF7 may be the best player in college but if you load the box you'll find he's just a man, not a god. The defense had a few young players that had okay seasons and were then expected to just jump into FBS leaders in stats and it unsurprisingly didn't happen. LSU will never be a contender until they find a competent qb. SEC is not strong this year..sad to say for me. There will be a lot of teams in the 14-25 range but Bama is the only one that's serious. Jacob Eason still showed he has talent but is not ready to lead the Georgia Bulldogs. Don't be fooled by his stats. His TD pass was a jet sweep. He got lucky on two iffy PI calls on deep throws that were not smart. If I had to list the SEC in rankings I'd go with Bama, Ole Miss, UT/Georgia, A&M/LSU, Arky/Florida, Auburn and the rest don't matter
That's shot Dodd took at the goaline was nasty... He's lucky his WR scooped up that ball.
