Full Version: Could Jalen Carter fall to #24?

Lets say for the sake of argument:
He's more involved in this accident than just a bystander who happened to be casually participating in this racing and he faces, say, 2nd or 3rd degree manslaughter or at the very least reckless endangerment charges.  Could his character become such an issue that teams would flee in droves?  There is still something that doesn't smell right about this incident; the biggest being why it has been covered up until now.  IF it were to happen, would Baalke/Pedersen take a chance and pick him?  Thoughts?

Apologies in advance if this is just a rehash of any 'College Game / Draft' threads that i've been too lazy to read.
No

There will be a half dozen teams that don't care if he eats his own offspring
Unless there's a whole lot more to this story that comes out in the near future, there's no way he'll fall to 24.

Even with the news that came out, I still don't see him falling past the Seahawks at 5.

Cronus would be proud.

Jags could move up in the draft and they should if there is a potential starter on defense in round 1
If he or Will Anderson somehow fell out of the top 5, i'd be looking to trade up if i'm Balke. Our team is getting to the point where we may just need 1 or 2 more elite guys to make some noise and you might not get that at #24..

Maybe if they fell to like 10 I’d agree, but say 6 or so would cost way too much.

Even moving to 10 would cost our first rounder next year.
I don't think Carter is worth moving up for. We're not a player away from making a Superbowl run. We still need to tread lightly in this year's draft. Still concerns on the offensive line. Still need to shore up the secondary a little bit. The depth is still lackluster behind Engram and Etienne.

Giving up any picks or future picks to get Carter just doesn't seem like a smart investment in the long run.

Though I get what you’re saying, I somewhat disagree. If we could get some serious interior pressure on the D, you will see more sacks from Allen, hopefully Walker improves second year, and it suddenly makes our Secondary better. This is a complete best case scenario I agree, but it could be the perfect storm.
He was out of shape in his pro day and could not complete it. 10 pounds weight gain.
We need an impact player on defense. I just rewatched the Chargers playoff game, painfully bad in some key situations. Winning solves everything, but even with a high powered and efficient offense, we can't give them enough chances or get off the field and will find it hard to win the division and make another playoff run.

We need big and wide players in the middle of our defensive line. If we can do that we will be ok.
