We really need to get a handle on illegals coming in to this country. I say put armed military units at the border

All these taboos about what to eat and what not to eat are all for civilized times and privileged statuses. And of course I would prefer to live in civilized time with some privileges. We all would.

Sounds like they should have stayed in any of the many countries they walked through and didn't starve in.

I always have, and have the posting history to prove it. My wife fled a military coup in Peru to come here in 1971. Graduated with the boys from Lynyrd Skynyrd at Lee HS, even tho she had already finished her version of HS in Lima. I'm not in favor of letting known criminals in, but if you are trying to escape oppression as a refugee or are seeking a better life and follow the legal route, then welcome. Most people who are in favor of banning 99% of immigrants either dont have any personal experience with it, or don't understand the inscription at the foot of the Statue of Liberty. Plus it provides a labor force for jobs that other people feel are beneath them, and it keeps our population from sagging. Considering the ongoing infanticide that the US has been engaged in since 1973, immigration has been a good stabilizer.

I think a lot of people wouldn't have an issue with immigrants if the bolded part was how they all come here. Unfortunately it's not and the media is more than happy to stir that pot and throw the average American in with the crazies who have zero tolerance for immigrants, period.
I don't care who comes here as long as they're not criminals and they come via the legal route whether as immigrants or as refugees. If I wanted to immigrate to Canada or Iceland I would have to do so legally. It's pretty simple.

As much as I applaud Trump for clamping down on illegal immigration, and for making asylum claims harder to prove, he also reduced the slots available for the legal route. And in my mind that's just mean. I think there should be more slots for citizens of western Hemisphere countries.
