This would be amazing

For his age is an important caveat but his leadership is through the roof. If they can fit him under the cap, it would pay dividends helping out our young guys.
We all know and love the Calais Campbell from 2017 and 2018. But several years have passed, and the Jags need to do the right thing for the team without regard to how much we love the guy. It has to depend on how much he will cost, and how much he has left in the tank.

Calais last season would have been a valuable addition based on his play alone. Let's not act like the dude is washed up garbage. He's not 2017 level, but he's still one of the better DL in the league, especially in a rotational role
Hope we can agree on a contract and sign him after June or July 1st when it won't affect our comp pick for Taylor

Agreed. My expectation is that our offense takes a herculean step forward in 2023 with Ridley added and the rest of this offense mostly intact and more familiar in Pederson's offense under Lawrence's leadership.

Those turnovers and misfires we saw last year earlier on some of those opening drives or early 1st Quarter drives are going to be converted into TD's. When we start getting up to 14+ point leads early? Especially in this division where we'll have three new QB's more than likely with two of those QB's being under new staffs?

It's a perfect storm of an opportunity for this defense to thrive. Campbell being rotated in on 2nd and long (a run play not being out of the question here, still enables his strength to impact either play) and 3rd and long where you know it's an obvious passing situation only benefits this team.

Could you imagine Walker and Campbell lined up on one side of the football field? With Tyson Campbell already getting the reputation of QB's shying away from his side of the football field in the secondary? It just gives us a [BLEEP] ton of opportunities to attack an offense. You could now start to flush the QB to one side of the football field where Josh Allen will be.

Maybe we throw Devin Lloyd out there with him like he did at Utah so he can use his speed more to get after the QB. Maybe we'll [BLEEP] around and draft an edge rusher on the opening night of the draft after all like a Nolan Smith or Will McDonald IV. There's just a lot of opportunity here to create turnovers, create better field position, etc.

He still had more sacks than Key last year and is a beast against the run

He was cut, so it won't affect the comp pick formula.  Plus with how little he'd sign for we'd only potentially lose the late pick we get for Key.
I'm surprised Yannick hasn't had more of a market this offseason. You can pencil the dude in for 8 sacks/3 FF's a season. I mean, he's a liability against the run....but 2 and long/3rd a long?

I guess there's a reason he's looking at his 6th team in 5 seasons.
Why isn't Calais here yet? What's the damn holdup?

I don't want to lose any picks.  How little do you think he is going to sign for?  I'm thinking 1 year 7 mil.

He's trying to get offers from other contenders

He said he wants to play in the SB

Calais to the Jets here we go....
I mean they are building a dream team going all in on the Rodgers take over....

But more seriously, I'd love to sign him but I'm thinking something like vet min with incentives.
He'd be great for Walker and the locker room but you don't overpay for player coaches
I hope he decides to return, but If the difference is several million dollars, then I cannot blame him for going to a different team.

Agreed. We can't break the bank for him. I would have offered him a one year deal for $3.5M and been done with it. That's half of what Key got last year but Campbell is 37 years old.
I say he gets a 1 year 5 mil deal

Well like I said signing him won't affect our comp pick formula, so he can sign for whatever and we won't lose any comp picks.  He signed a 2 year 12.5 mil contract last offseason, he's almost assuredly not eclipsing that so probably in the 5-6 at most.

Yeah, im thinking 5 or 6 as well.  Hes older but hes still a good player and would of been 2nd in sacks on our team last year just behind Allen
