That's both funny and sad.
Allegedly injured his ex GF's hand while grabbing her phone from her (and smashing the phone)
Sheesh.

Might not technically be DV but it rhymes.  I hope he gets some anger management classes and maybe some medication if the classes show it would help.
Crap. There goes our shot at the playoffs.

Would be nice to have him available and drama free, actually.

Three different Jags regimes have now tried and failed to get production form him as a returner or as a DB, but ST coach Farwell last year found Claybrooks a true home as gunner on kick coverage.

Here's an excerpt from the SI beat writer's report card on Farwell's work wit the ST unit last year:

Quote:Coverage teams

What we learned: Chris Claybrooks and Daniel Thomas were more than enough to replace Rudy Ford. While Ford was never going to make an impact on the Jaguars' defense in 2022, it was at least worth wondering what his release at the end of training camp meant for the special teams units after Ford had proven to be an elite gunner on coverage teams. Third-year defensive backs Chris Claybrooks and Daniel Thomas were genuinely elite as gunners in his place in 2022, making up for the subtraction of Ford by consistently downing punts within the five-yard line. Claybrooks was especially effective in this role, using his speed to keep a few punts at the one-yard line toward the end of the year.
Maybe some anger management classes or something.

If he gets suspended for this I'm going to lose my [BLEEP].
This sounds like a weird version of your typical domestic violence victim, "I fell down the stairs."
So our DB room needs to be fortified even more now. Claybrooks was just special teams depth.

Yes, he can’t cover anything except special teams and his girlfriends phone.

is this classified as a botched interception?

Strip sack.

He was a core ST player. Not "just depth."  He was the primary gunner on kick coverage and did it very well.

We are a better team if he gets past this without suspension.

LOL

Strip-sack + a fifteen yard penalty for the spike
Claybrooks actually had a role carved out as a quality special teamer.
Not that any time is a good time to get arrested for this sort of thing, but this time is particularly bad considering the team is expected to target DBs (note the use of plural) in just ovver a week. It's not as though Claybrooks is some entrenched starter.
Meh, he's likely cut anyway. Younger and cheaper on the way up.
His talent maxed out.

Regardless if he makes the team or not, its still good news.  You dont want your players catching charges.
