The problem before was to play, the third quarterback had to count as an active player. It now takes the place of an inactive player. On game day, teams will have two options:
Option A: 1 emergency quarterback, 4 inactive players
Option B: 5 inactive players
I think the Jaguars will opt for Option A.
If nothing else, it will make cut day more interesting.
Nah, no one (or a very small number) is going to keep a 3rd QB in lieu of a position player. There's just no value in it. If you're needing a 3rd QB he's already on your practice squad or you've got a Tractor Signal stashed at your stadium.
A quarterback on the practice squad player can't be activated mid-game if an injury occurs to your first 2 quarterbacks while an emergency quarterback can. That does represent value. Again, an inactive player, by definition, has a 0% chance of playing. Although an emergency quarterback is unlikely to play in a game, his chances are greater than 0%. That's better odds.
I'm hopeful Tank Bigsby will be that short yardage guy we've lacked since MJD left. But I don't know much about him, but he certainly has the name for it.

Maybe we letting tank take those short yardage situations?
This.
I might also include carried against defenses with soft run defenses up the middle.
Make no mistake, I am quite happy with Etienne, but I am unsure that running inside- especially in short yardage situations- is his strength.
On top of that, we need quality in our backup RBs. While Hasty gave us some good moments last year, I think we can do better at backup.
Between Bigsby, D'Ernest Johnson and Hasty, I feel more comfortable at RB than I did at any point since the Robinson trade.
Jeff Prosser said Etienne was the 3rd most explosive RB in the league, according to advanced analytics.
I think he could be a 1200 plus guy.

I think he'll be the guy leading the offense in total yardage in 2023 again like he did last year. Pushing closer to 1700 yards or more. He had a really impressive year coming off of his IR rookie season. Should be quicker with his vision and decision making now with that year behind him. Just want to see him more involved in the receiving game this season and I hope he holds onto the damn football. The fumbles are just aggravating as hell.
Have to factor in Strange and Parish potentially as well as edge setters and gap attacking blockers. Etienne's 5.1 YPA last year was really nice to have. Will be hard to top that. All you can do is give him more opportunities and create space for his speed to work.
