Big yikes.

The Jets actually beat the Browns as well the following week after they beat the Rams.  Very happy we ended up with Trevor through
Everything has happened as it should

We will get a SB ring in the next few years and it’ll of all been worth it
What happens if Jalen Ramsey would've gotten paid in the mist of the Minshew Mania? Not only we lose out on Trevor because we would've been mediocre but still stuck with a bad lockerroom because of him.

That was the 1998 draft.

1996 was our second draft.  That was the year we drafted Kevin Hardy, Tony Brackens and Aaron Beasley in the top 3.

We wound up with the #9 overall pick in 1998 because we traded Rob Johnson (he of the great game against Baltimore) to Buffahole for their first and 4th round picks.

My what if from that draft....

1.  What if we managed to pick Randy Moss with our 2nd 1st round pick?

Everybody thinks we stuck it to Buffalo. What if the music city miracle doesn't happen and Rob Johnson wins that game.

1) What if Weaver hired Jimmy Johnson to be the team’s first head coach?

Apparently Johnson was intrigued by the Jags job and word is a meeting with Weaver may have taken place to the point where Jerry Jones earned about tampering. I think this one would’ve been a bad one for the Jags and I’m glad we ended up with Coughlin.

2) What if the Jags signed Charles Woodson in 2006? According to Woodson, he wanted to sign here but the Jags weren’t interested. Woodson would’ve been a huge upgrade over Brian Williams.

3) What if Jags drafted Calais Campbell in 2008?

Calais stated the Jags told him they planned to draft him in the 1st round but instead the Jags ended up trading for Derrick Harvey. Jags could’ve kept all the ammo and drafted a potential HOFer. Also think Calais’ career would’ve been better off as he would’ve been able to be more of a pass rusher here instead of a 3-4 end.

4) What if the Jags traded for Tebow in 2012?

We all now how close it came to happening in 2012. I think this would could have potentially really messed up the timeline. There would have been overwhelming pressure to play Tebow and if things would’ve went south it would have probably really pissed off some of the locals.

5) What if Myles Jack wasn’t ruled down?

This one strings the most because I truly think the lead would’ve been big enough that a Patriots comeback would be unlikely. In an alternate timeline a Jags/Eagles Super Bowl happened that year.

There are a few others that I thought of involving such as career ending injuries or suspensions like Boselli, Tavian Banks, and Blackmon. Are there any other big ones?

No, it was never close to happening.. only in the minds of the extremely ignorant gator fans that still think he'd be an upgrade on our roster today.

In the words of the immortal Dave Caldwell "Even if he was released"
What if Jimmy started from day 1.
What if Fred doesn’t miss 55 games.
What if the Bills kick it deep in 1999.
What if Simmons doesn’t block the extra point in Denver in 1996
What if Simmons don’t intercept that shovel pass
What if Brackens didn’t make that tackle vs Atlanta
What if Brunell doesn’t throw a pick on the goal line against NE in 1996 AFC Championship game.
What if Brunell didn’t get hurt in the 3rd preseason game in 1997 which means Johnson would have never played which means the Bills would never give us the ammo to draft Fred.
What if Banks dropped that pass instead of getting hurt in Atlanta.
What if Hudson doesn’t lateral the ball in the 1997 divisional playoffs against the Jets.
What if Cowher punched Hudson.
What if Coughlin stayed in 2003.
What if the Vikings didn’t let the time run out in 2004 draft
What if we didn’t draft Gabbert
What if Greg Jones doesn’t get hurt
What if Fred started all 16 games as a rookie
What if Jimmy didn’t retire in 2005
What if we didn’t trade Stroud
What if Brackens didn’t get injured, he adds 20 more sacks

Even if he was released was 2013. In 2012 was when the Broncos signed Manning and put Tebow on the trade Tebow.

Khan badly wanted Tebow and directed Gene Smith to put together a trade package. It came down to the Jets and the Jags. The trade packages were basically even so the Broncos gave Tebow the choice to pick. He ended up picking the Jets because he said he got the feeling the coaching staff wanted him more.

It definitely came super close to happening.

For one, you stole potential development away from Garrard who ultimately ended up surpassing Leftwich as our starter. Secondly, Brunell was not done yet as a QB. It was made evident when he and Joe Gibbs took the Washington Redskins back to the post season for the first time in awhile. But, the worst part of it all? Worst case scenario? You finish poorly and in 2004's NFL draft? You had your choice between Philip Rivers, Eli Manning or Ben Roethlisberger. Ouch. Big time ouch.

Yep, this is it.

Del Rio wanted Suggs but James Harris wanted Leftwich.  When the pick came in we went with Leftwich and then the next year since we had Leftwich, we selected WR Reggie Williams at #9 and passed on Big Ben who went to the Steelers at #11.  We could have had Suggs and Big Ben in back to back drafts.  Instead, we go Leftwich and Planet Reggie.

The crazy thing about this is that the Ravens were trying to trade ahead of the Jags to get Leftwich but the Vikes could not reach the NFL to finalize the trade so the Jags raced to the podium to get their pick in when the time elapsed on the Vikings.

I never bought that story. He's from Jacksonville it seems really odd to think he would have chosen to be traded to the Jets when everyone was already pretty certain Gabbs wasn't gonna ever make it.

He would have had a legitimate chance of being the best QB on the roster (thats just how bad Blaine was) and he would have been in his home town?

It's absurd on paper. They would have been the greatest show on turf combined with that 1999 defense? Probably would have went undefeated that year and got over the hill with those stinkin mayo eating tacks.
What if Northcutt catches that pass
What if the Pats DB didn’t deflect Bortles’ pass in 2017
What if Barlow doesn’t fumble in the 2nd half against the Titans
What Jimmy’s mom didn’t send Tom the vhs tape
What if Fred wasn’t pulled with 10 minutes left in the 2nd quarter against Miami in ‘99 playoffs
What if Stewart never got hurt in week 3 of ‘98
What if Rison was never traded
What if we didn’t pay Bortles 19 million and Spicer 33 million and Garrard $60 Million and Thomas $9 Million
What if we didn’t draft Anger in round 3
What if Steve Beurlien remained the starter
What if the Texans didn’t bail us out in 2002
What if Barnes was flagged on 4th and 2

My biggest one is what if Jimmy Smith caught that extra pass when a flag was thrown, he would have over 300 yards against the best defense of all time… but nobody credits the day Brunell had against that same defense. Taylor was out that game too.
The biggest what if, honestly. Is what if we got rid of Caldwell, didn't hire Coughlin and took Mahomes at 4 instead of Fournette. I wont sit here and pretend I wanted us to take him at 4 because I had no idea he would be as good as he was.. I did like his potential tho as a second rounder. But rightfully so, he got taken way earlier than I thought he would.

But man, Mahomes + the 2017 defense? We might have 5 SB trophys right now and a lot of the better players we had may still be here.
Justin Blackmon had all the talent and athleticism. The games I watched him play live were amazing. Hope he got the help he needed
What if we draft QB Russell Wilson in the 3rd round instead of Punter Bryan Anger

I do too. He’s a straight up dude from a good family. It just goes to show that no one is immune from addiction.
What if Shad Khan bought the Rams? Do we end up sold to Kroenke, or does Weaver hold out for a bidder committed to Duval?
If not Kroenke, who? Do we flail about for a decade trying to figure out the front office/sideline?

We would have been short one starter!

Wouldn't have needed a punter though and now would have been drafting with those Denver 1st round picks in this perfect scenario world that we live.

If Khan bought the Rams, we would have likely been bought by the Saudis, requiring us to wear Arab headdress (kaffiyeh) and banning beer from the games.  On the bright side, our riverfront would have been developed 3 years ago mirroring Abu Dhabi.
