Chris Claybrooks was arrested in Duval on Domestic Violence; False Imprisonment (felony) also charged. Discuss.
Unbelievable. I was just watching the nfl network. They had a top 10 list of the best games of 2022. The play off game, Jaguars versus the chargers was #6. I forgot about the ball, bouncing off his head on the punt return. Anyways, I’m guessing he might not be a jag for long.
Some never learn
Every new season I instill optimism that the jags can do well. This year has been brighter than the last 5 years because of the watermark last season. Distractions like this (especially twice for him) should just be let go. He wants to be around that life, fine, but the jags organization doesn't need to tolerate this. Good luck out there CC.
Supposedly this incident is on video. If the offense can be verified, then it's time to cut ties. Hopefully this guy gets some help with his emotional maturity. Perhaps he came from a background where this was tolerated. As an adult and a professional sports player, the light has to come on at some time that this sort of behavior is unacceptable.
Well, every year coaches must say good bye and good luck to the players after OTA's During the month off before training camp they have to be praying every night crap like this doesn't occur.

Before this odds were high that Claybrooks had a penciled in spot on the 53. Now that he has drawn this kind of attention to himself maybe not so much. (especially with a dead cap of only 25k)
Darious Williams, Tyson Campbell, Tre Herndon are locks of course. Now he may have placed himself in competition with the pack. He is exceptionally fast (4.2), but a bit short 5'9" and light 177 lbs. Another camp battle to watch !

The pack
Tevaughn Campbell 6'0" 191 4.41
Montaric Brown 6'0" 190 4.55
Gregory Junior 6'0" 190 4.46
Christian Braswell 5'10" 181 4.45
Kaleb Hayes 5'11" 194 4.31
Divaad Wilson 6'0" 189 4.5

Claybrooks is on thin ice and he should be

He also happens to be one of the best special teams kick coverage gunners in the NFL

That may cause the Jags to Hesitate in releasing him over this

I hope they have him attend some mandatory counseling/ therapy for his own sake, regardless
While it's not good news as you always want as many options as possible, I don't see it as a big deal as I didn't expect him to make the team anyway.  He's bad at playing cornerback and we now have other options to serve as a backup returner.  His one hope is as a special teams gunner.  He had a couple of great plays last year, but I'm not sure it is enough, particularly considering the new kickoff rules which will limit returns.  I was already thinking the Jaguars would go in a different direction on their 53 man roster before this incident.
Boy needs to get his priorities straight. You gonna take advantage of your god given talent or waste it?
He will be cut.

Not a big loss either.
He'll be released. Idjit.

nothing to discuss. second time in a matter of months, leopards don't change their spots. Team did him a favor letting the first charge play out, but dude proved he didn't learn anything from that time. He should be an FA if he isn't already.

He is completely replaceable.

I mean - the first one was thrown out over it being a hyperbolized charge form his ex-GF, wasn't it?

The kid clearly hasn't learned to get out of his own way when it comes to relationships outside the locker room, but I don't know if we should be lumping these two incidents together without some distinction.

If there's any validity to this one - he gone.
Given the outcome of the first one, I guess I can see why the team isn't rushing to judgement here.

Some guys just need to get away from women or change the women they are involved with. Who knows what the details are but either way him and the women he "dates" aren't compatible.

He seems to have a problem and unless he changes something it will continue to happen. He needs to change himself and doing that would most likely would resolve the other options. If he doesn't want to change, the other options are to stop getting involved with crazy or be upfront with it being a transaction.

Some guys are emotionally immature and haven’t learned to cope with the ups and downs of a relationship. Other guys are attracted to women who like to manipulate and create drama.

Still others, like my brother, are attracted to crazy women. I’m not talking wild partying crazy, I mean clinically diagnosed crazy. Bipolar, schizo, manic-depressive cray cray. Then he moans and complains about the hardship, but deep down I think he likes that too. People are strange. Not me, just y’all.

Where there's smoke, there's likely going to be fire. It's not like these incidents were years apart, they were months. Ain't passing the smell test for me.

The first wasn't really an issue and was overblown. It was stupid but it wasn't domestic violence. It was an ex-girlfriend pushing his buttons and trying to get a reaction from him in order to help her get money or whatever she wanted.

Is this the same ex or is this a different woman? Did it involve actual violence? Have to wait and see.

Quote:According to the arrest report by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the incident between Claybrooks and the woman who filed charges against him occurred on Sept. 22, 2022. Claybrooks and the woman were in a dating relationship for about two years.

The woman says that at around 12:10 AM, the two argued after she confronted Claybrooks about cheating on her again, according to the arrest report. She said she wanted to go back to California. At that point, when she attempted to leave, Claybrooks blocked the front door with his body, the report said.

When the woman went to leave via the backyard gate, the report said he confronted her again, not letting her leave and grabbing her against her will.

Claybrooks was later involved in another domestic incident in April. Claybrooks was arrested in Nashville and charged with misdemeanor domestic assault with bodily injury and vandalism. That case was ultimately settled and he was not prosecuted.

In that case, Claybrooks was accused of grabbing a cellphone from a woman's hand and throwing it on the ground.

It is unclear whether or not the two incidents are connected.

So either same woman or another one looking for a payday after the other one seems to have gotten paid.

He cheats on you again but instead of leaving you confront him about the cheating because why? Is he finally going to stop cheating on you because you confronted him again? Have some self-awareness and respect and just leave without talking to him.

He's scum but so far doesn't sound like he has done anything to be arrested for. He just needs to stop pretending like he likes these women for anything more than temporary "companionship".
