How are all you fine people? Hope you've all had a good offseason but football is here and I have not felt this positive about the Jags maybe ever.

The FO did a really good job this offseason after being in a tight spot cap wise to bring a lot of guys back and replace what we lost. We have something that we haven't had for years and I have been crying out for. Stability! Same coaching staff, mostly the same roster and the new guys we've got will be adding depth and quality to the roster.

Then look at that O. This is right up there with Jimmy, Keenan, Fred and Brunell. Weapons all over the place and a nightmare for D's to scheme and shutdown. Lawrence looks confident and has belief in himself and the team. Doug has done an amazing job turning him around and bringing him back. You saw this team grow, mature and improve as the season went on and the early game mistakes that killed us turned into game winning plays and this team started to believe and show how good they are and I don't think they realised how good they can be.

Love that we have the Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, Niners and Ravens this year. Those teams are all at the top end of teams in the league and those games will give us a chance to experience the pressure and fine margins in big games that will help come playoffs and years to come.

This year is going to be special and I hope your all ready for the wild ride. Go Jags!!

The second half of last year was magical.

I may be on a heavy dose of the hopium but I feel confident in this team and the AFC looks a real dogfight this year but that may work in our favour.

I'm all in on this team this year.

It certainly was and we rode our luck at times but we also bought ourselves back in those games. It wasn't teams making horrendous mistakes, it was us making plays and I feel its given this team belief that they can win games from behind, that we are never out of games.

We started games poorly last year and finished strong so I expect to see us starting games better and having games won by the 4th Q more this season.
I say 'ride the teal-hopium-wave, JagFan81!'

Lots of things going right for this team, and your optimism may prove to be wise.
I'm only slightly more measured in my hopes and expectations.

Oh I get you NYC and that's why your one of my favourite posters. Your always fair and considered with your posts and very often right.

I've been reading around the forum posts and there are a few worries around the roster with depth and positions we could get better at and i dont disagree but this team and coaches have earned the benefit of the doubt with me. We've been in sorry many bad spots and deep holes in games but found our way out in a variety of ways and I think there's a confidence and belief that no game is ever over.

I'd rather have a learning experience from bad spots and fighting back as that's the sign of a good team, a good culture and a good team chemistry. I've seen plenty of teams have a great start and looking good then hit a bad spot and fall to pieces.
Another thing to cherish and something we might never see again in Jacksonville is the amount of first round draft picks that are currently on the roster. Even though some aren’t playing up to their draft stock, there are 10 first round picks on this team.

Lawrence - 1st round
Etienne - 1st round
Walker - 1st round
Allen - 1st round
Ridley - 1st round
Chaisson - 1st round
Scherff - 1st round
Engram - 1st round
Harrison - 1st round
Lloyd - 1st round

Campbell - 33rd overall
Robinson - selected 34th overall
Jones - selected 37th overall
Z.Jones - 47th overall

All of them are major contributors except Chaisson.
If you add Strange and Little that gives the Jaguars 16 players that were drafted in the first 2 rounds.

Add Fortner, Muma, Hamilton, Cisco, Smoot and Bigsby to the list and that gives the team 22 players that were selected in the first 3 rounds of the draft.

A magical season and can’t wait for this season.
If we can figure out this pass rush thing and our O-line we’ll be great, it’s our year to be dominant and completely take over the NFL
We have a talented roster. Have to go out and earn it though week in and week out. Can't wait to try and pull a rabbit out of the hat late in the season. Starts Week 1 at Indianapolis, road division game. Hype can die pretty quick is what I'm getting at..

Indy makes me a little nervous. They will be hyped to play the division winners in their opener. I hope Minshew is starting because although he’s probably a little better out of the gate due to experience, I also think he’s a little easier to prepare for since there’s NFL tape on him already and he’s a more conventional QB. I think there’s also a small possibility that we overlook them a bit with the home opener the following week against KC.

Week 1 can always be a little wonky.

Couple years ago the Jags beat Indy week 1. Some people on here were saying how good Henderson was and that Minshew was the answer and blah blah blah…. Then the Jags lost every single game after that which led to Trevor.

Was a hell of a drug to start that season. Yikes to even remember it.

This is the key. At the end of the day. The NFL is still about trench warfare. You can get by in the regular season here and there with a great QB that can will a team to victory and a few lucky bounces on defense and special teams. However, when you start ascending into the play-off race and the bigger household names and teams start coming up. It almost always, always, ALWAYS circles back to the basic, fundamental facts of life in the NFL.

1. Can you protect the QB?
2. Can you get after the QB?

This will be what we ultimately end up celebrating or [BLEEP] about in January as a fan base more than likely.

Good memory.  Week 1 doesn't dictate the rest of the season by any means,  but we could have a much tougher game given the schedule.  Momentum is a thing,  and it could be a good tune up for KC the following week.  Meaningful games right off the rip this year so the team better be "up" for them.  In Doug we trust.
I predicted that I could see this team getting off to a bad start. 1 - 3 matter of fact. With them getting only a win over the tinhorns in the first four games, which sets up a nice mainstream media narrative about the team being not who they thought they were. Until the get on a nice little streak starting with a win over the Bills in London and some wins over the clots, Saints and Steelers.

The answer to these two questions is clearly TBD. Walker Little is showing positive signs at left tackle so far. The right tackle spot must be the greatest concern to start this season. Anton Harrison should become a very good player, but will he be dependable to begin this season? The defense has thrown a lot at him so far and the results have been mixed. On the day I attended training camp, he was "abused" by Fatukasi and Josh Allen on more than one occason. He has not practiced for a few days due to sore shoulder which heightens my concern. It wouldn't totally shock me to see Josh Wells begin the season at right tackle until Cam Robinson returns in week 5. He actually played well last season for the Bucs until getting hurt and his experience is invaluable. Again, I'm not down on Harrison's long-term future, but the learning curve for a rookie tackle is very big. The rest of the OL should be fine as Schereff is now healthy and Fortner is stronger with his rookie season under his belt. If Bartch can't return by the start of the season, Shatley and Hance are capable of filling in.

Question 2 should be less of a concern. I expect Josh Allen to have a big season and Trevon Walker to make huge strides from his inconsistent rookie season. Can't say I'm convinced he'll end up at Edge, but he can also be very effective when moved to the D-Line. Fatukasi is also healthier and should be better at pressuring the quarterback from the inside. Abdullah is the wild-card and I hope your optimism regarding him comes to fruition. I wouldn't mind adding Justin Houston as a veteran presence to add to this group.

Oh of course we have to earn it. The 2018 team had huge expectations and started well but got blown out in Dallas then the wheels fell off. I just don't see it with this team and this coaching staff. Doug knows how to be successful in the NFL and I like his comments so far this camp that it's about execution and consistency. He doesn't want last year to be a one off.

The big thing for me was how good this team was when they got on a roll and after the bye were able to respond to bad games like the Lions game.

Exactly. Week 1 can be a weird week but i do think we will win and hopefully Irsay can keep doing his best drunk Jerry Jones impression.

Oh and also thanks to Frank Gore. What a legend.

Oh man….here we go with the “tune up game” stuff.

This is pro football and any team can be beat.
