That's his brother Kurtis.

I'd say Kurtis has more arm than his brother, really hope he is recovered.

I read he had a Lisfranc sprain while in the CFL.

The guy also tried out as a WR for the Giants.

As long as he doesn't have an alternate personality named Rodney, we should be fine. Big Grin

It is his little brother Kurtis who was the MAC player of the Year at Ohio last season.  I can see how one could look up a rookie named Rourke from Ohio and assume the Rourke stats from 2022 belong to Nathan.  Kurtus has got this year and next worth of eligibility left, which, due to COVID rules and a redshirt in 2019, would make six years so he might opt for the CFL or a high major program's NIL money if he isn't considered an the NFL draft prospect in 2024.

Nathan won three straight bowl games for Ohio in 2017, 2018, and 2019 but never won MAC player of the year.  He was given a chance at WR, where he had never played, for the Giants in 2020 when the CFL shutdown.  He would probably really need to be either bigger or faster to make that work.  He split time at QB as a rookie for the BC Lions in 2021.  If you want to see Nathan's stats from last year look up BC.  He was on track to break a ton of CFL records and it is a virtual certainty that he would have been CFL MVP in 2022 had he not missed the second half of the regular season with the Lisfranc sprain.

He certainly does.  He's also taller and supposedly faster in his 40 time.  But he isn't anywhere near as good of a runner because he is nowhere near as agile.  If one brother was an established NFL started and another the accepted backup then having brothers at QB, like in college, could be a fun and beneficial situation.  It is hard to imagine both Rourke's being of the same NFL team though.  Possibly fighting your sibling for one roster spot doesn't sound like something the Jaguars would want.
On 1010 today, they brought up a 5th rounder for a WR or Rourke. They said it would better to keep Rourke as a QB2.

No that is his younger brother Kurtis who is also a Bobcat.  We are hoping he stays healthy this year and finally brings a MAC Championship to Athens.

On behalf of copycat, I'll just say you shut your whore mouth right now.

He's ours, he's staying, and we're gonna get some more bowl wins, dangit

who's giving us a fifth, and for what WR?

Rourke isn't on the table, imo. I still think the long term plan is for CJB to groom him into the backup role and let him take over next season as QB2.

I know he did it against lesser talent but to play Devils advocate he also is playing with less talent. His throws on the run looked great today. Beathard is OK but I wouldn't expect him to win many games. Rourke IMO played well enough to get a shot at higher competition.

I dunno if he's there yet. A lot of the backup QB is being that voice of experience when the starter comes back to the sideline and plays are reviewed. Not saying he can't be that guy, but I have a feeling that is where CJB fits well. He has starting experience, he's familiar with the playbook, and he's comfortable taking the backseat to the starter.

I'll remind you that Rourke and I share our alma mater, so don't think this is me just dumping on a young kid. If he's owning the film room and has Trevor's ear between series, I'll give the coaches credit for taking risk and I'll be really happy for the kid.

If something happened to Trevor, though, I'd feel a lot more secure with CJB right now than I would Rourke. He's gonna give the FO a lot to think about come final cuts if he can keep this up, though!

(Gabby's a chef)

The bucs got Maker Bayfield and Trask Time. They may just wanna run wildcat 3 downs and punt.

So it went full circle, Chad Henne replaced Gabbs in Jax and now Gabbs replaced Henne in KC LOL. Gabbert gonna be the worst QB of all time and have like 3 rings before he retires smh.

Thanks !!  I was wondering what the heck was going on when I didn't see his CFL stats ..... my bad on this major oversight.

For the sake of us Bobcats kinda curious if there isn't yet another younger Rourke brother who might be looking to play ball in SE Ohio Big Grin

Let's keep this thing going as long as we can!!
He looked better than Beathard to me.
The young man has flashed brilliantly over the last 2 games. And CJ looks... Well he looks like a back-up QB that can maybe win 33% of games if Lawrence goes out. CJ gives no hope of optimism. But then again, he's just a back up.

Rourke is also, "just a back up". He's made amazing plays, but he's playing in the 3rd and 4th quarters against defensive players that, let's be honest, are most likely not seeing the field come September.

I'm rooting for the kid, because hope is better than the reality that is CJ Betheard. But truth is that more than likely the difference between the 2 is marginal at best. The only thing that floats Rourke at this point is that, if he has to play a month or so this season, most teams will have no clue or film on Rourke. That alone could be the reason to keep him and drop CJ. Everyone knows CJ and he'll be locked down. Rourke may steal a few games just from teams not knowing his strengths, weaknesses, and most importantly his tendencies.
If they only keep two, Rourke better be the backup.  He’s much better than Beathard.  They put Rourke on the PS and he’s gone.

Doug already put it to rest after the game. He said CJ is the #2, there's no competition.
Dempsey said every team gets to keep a protected emergency QB on the practice squad.

Just don't be surprised when CJ is still on the 53 come cut day.

Sure, but Rourke wouldn't make it to the practice squad.
Rourke has to be the #2. He’s just flat out better than Beathard. He’s also more athletic and can make plays with his feet that Beathard can’t.

Pederson seems to be pretty transparent. Everything he says about Beathard seems to indicate he’ll be the backup.

More athletic but the coaches also evaluate decision making, knowledge of the playbook and leadership. So far we’ve seen Rouke free lancing a bit with the 3s and 4s. They need to see what he can do in different scenarios.

Never said he wouldn’t.  I said IF they only keep two that Rourke should be the backup.
