Who is that DB that's whining.

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson from what I heard on the radio
(08-16-2023, 11:55 AM)homebiscuit Wrote: [ -> ]Just heard on 1010 that Anton Harrison is schooling Aiden Hutchinson.

Also: Trevor lighting up their secondary for a couple of TDs and Tank ripping off a couple of long runs. Travon Walker stuffed a run.

Hutchinson's stats were so inflated last year it's ridiculous, and the media drooled over him constantly.

Jeff Risdon, from Lions Wire, who many know from NFL Draft Coverage, mentioned the friendly long-time rivalry between Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Calvin Ridley. With both former SEC players having mutual respect for each other.  Risdon also had high praise for the Jaguars, including their LB corp, and the Defensive Line.

Nice - thanks for posting, D6

Good to see an outside perspective

This could be best news all off season if he really takes a leap.

Lloyd is a natural born leader. Looking for lots of young players to develop from this defensive unit.
Agent 0 was cold smoking fools.

I believe he had 4 TD and an INT.
We're looking good out there. Working against another team people expect to be much improved. Iron sharpening iron, even if it's getting chippy. Big intensity for Week 1.
The Jaguars coverage is very positive, but I read the coverage from the Detroit media, and it's positive also, so take it with a grain of salt.

It stinks we don't have good waiver wire position this year (blessing and a curse)

We are going to need bodies at DT/NT and OL soon with all these guys getting banged up.
So if I am understanding this right, our o-line is about to become more patchwork?
Time to rest Harrison for awhile. Guy has shown he is talented. Time to heal is more important than reps at this point.

If Wells is as hurt as bad as they say we'll need to add more depth
The two practices vs. the Lions should be incentive for Baalke/Pederson to make moves on both the offensive and defensive lines. I was counting on Fatukasi to have a big rebound this season and hope the fact he was placed in a boot is more precautionary than a serious injury. Regardless, I'd have to re-visit the possibility of signing Clowney. He is excellent against the run and if Foley is out they'll need someone to pick up the slack in this area. He is also capable of getting some sacks despite underperforming in this area the past few seasons.

The offensive line must also be a significant concern. While Harrison has shown excellent skills so far at right tackle, the re-occurring shoulder issue could eventually cause him to miss time. Wells may not be great, but they are counting on him for depth and the apparent injury against the Lions does not bode well for him or the team. Robinson will return hopefully for week 5, but the team needs to do something to provide more depth for the line. Ideally, they can find someone versatile enough to play multiple positions. The two guys I'd consider strongly are free agent Dalton Risner and Patrick Mecari from the Ravens. Risner would not be cheap, but he would be an upgrade at guard and has also played tackle. Brandon Schereff may not be around after this season due to his high salary cap figure and Risner is only 28. My guess is that he signs somewhere in the next week with the Vikings and Cowboys rumored to be his likely destination. Mekari is a different case in that he is under contract with the Ravens. He will not be starting, but has filled in very effectively for the Ravens at guard and tackle. Possibly they could acquire him in a trade for a 4th or 5th round draft choice.

The Jaguars have a good chance to go far this season due to their strength at the skill positions. However, if either line breaks down there is no way they will be playing in the Super Bowl next February in Las Vegas.

Are you really suggesting Clowney as a replacement for Foley’s position? Really?
