Quote:I'd like to see Whitworth finish his whole career with Cincy. He has a mean/nasty streak, and has been one of the best Linemen in football the past few seasons.

It may not happen though. Cincy has been having to make tough decisions regarding salaries and keeping players. They drafted two young tackles last year, and had to let Andre Smith go in FA also. We'll see if Whitworth sticks around with them.

jagherd,  what do you think the chances are for Andrew Whitworth to move to one of the Guard positions in 2017?    Though Whitworth has aged very well comparatively speaking,   the combination of the youth at Tackle that you mentioned, age likely to catch up with Whitworth in the next 1 to 4 seasons,  and he seems to have the body type to perform well at Guard all come to mind as reasons it could make sense to keep him around.   Especially,  when also factoring in his excellent leadership skills.

Too early to say Bridgewater?

I'd say it's a decent possibility of him moving to guard. A couple seasons ago, Whitworth was actually moved to LG for a couple games (I think it was a couple) due to injuries on their interior line. Their depth player was basically only a Tackle, so they swung Whitworth to guard and played the depth guy at LT.

I thought he was awesome at guard. He was mauling people in the run game. He did have slight trouble with some pulls, but it wasn't that bad.

Whitworth was pretty upset when they drafted young tackles. He publicly made some statements about it. However, he came out last season and really looked great.

If he does end up staying with Cincy for his career, a move to guard is possible. The probability of that? Idk.

Being that so much of what the Bengals do in the running game is with a mauling approach,  Andrew Whitworth should be able to make a natural full time transition to Guard.  Yet,  one question that's very uncertain at this time is whether Whitworth would prefer to remain with the Bengals if moved to Guard or would he rather go to a team that would consider him their starting LT?

That's a good question. He seems very loyal to the team and city, and acts like he would want to stay put. But, you never know in today's NFL if he would move on, or not.

A point of reference to this regarding Cincy:

Willie Anderson was a key fixture at Tackle for a long time (Cincy had an excellent O-line in the decade prior to this). Late in his career, as Cincy was drafting and retooling for the next generation of lineman, Willie left (or not re-signed by Cicny,, can't recall exactly). He played his last year or two in Baltimore, although age had finally gotten to him and he wasn't near the talent at the end as what he was in Cincy.

Maybe Whitworth will end up similar to Willie Anderson?
Quote:Well you didn't state which one so I get to pick whichever one I want.  Tongue
Aren't you going to pick the correct one for me though? Why do I have to do all the work.
Adrian Peterson?

Aaron Rodgers?

Larry Centers?

Didn't Saturday spend time with the Packers before he retired?

I forgot all about that. Yep, he sure did.

I totally forgot that Jeff Saturday was a Practice Squad player with the Baltimore Ravens before establishing himself in Indianapolis.
