It's our year, LET'S GO!!!!
Don’t overlook the Colts. They could be last years Texans with Anthony Richardson back healthy. You hate to face QBs like that because you do everything right and look up and he’s off to the races for a 67 yard TD.
Ol boy looked sharp last season.
I predict pain.. Go Jags!!

Richardson? LOL
Richardson is getting a lot of fantasy football hype at the moment. I would be more concerned about his durability. He was hyped up leaving Florida because of his size and speed, yet, it did him little favors his rookie season. It remains to be seen with him for sure. Could be Justin Fields 2.0.
pre-season games might not mean much of anythng, but theres one thing we can tell by a pre-season game. how much talet a team has on thier depth charts.

Correct. Depth, and, to some extent, how far along the starters are as a unit. I always look for the following from the limited amount of playing time the starters receive:
1. Discipline - Are they avoiding penalties, are they staying on schedule, are they getting in and out of the huddle timely, are they wrapping up properly on defense, sealing the edge on offense and are both sides nailing their assignments or blowing them.
2. Fluidity - There's always going to be a series or two where you're left scratching your head or disappointed the execution felt flat. However, you want to see consistency, you want to see them moving the chains on offense and getting off the field on defense more often than not.
3. Turnovers - This is something I think gets overlooked and understated, and sometimes just casually glossed over from the fanbase in general. Not from my perspective though. If Lawrence makes a head scratching throw and it results in an INT? That's concerning. If Bigsby coughs it up? That's even more concerning.
These were things we all saw in the preseason and it carried over into the regular season off and on. That simply cannot happen this season. This team cost itself a few games last year strictly due to losing the turnover battle.
4. Special Teams - Harder on this group than the other squads, because it's one job for the most part if you're a Kicker or Punter. You either execute it well, or, you don't. There is no in between for me on this as a fan. I'll especially be looking at it more this preseason with the new rules in place. This is where the coaching staff earns it's salt.
This squad could be the reason we overcome a turnover battle in one game, or, they could be the reason why our season falls short again. We have to be able to make 90% or more of our kicks, we have to not get beat by a full back for a touchdown and we have to flip the field a few times this year.
AFC South, Most Total TDs after first 4 games in 2023:
1. Anthony Richardson - 7 TD
2. CJ Stroud - 6 TD
2. Will Levis - 6 TD
4. Lawrence - 5 TD
Richardson played in 4 games with a 2-2 record. His 2 wins were @ Houston and @ Tennessee.
With Richardson as the starter for 4 games in the first 5 weeks of the 2023 season, the Colts were tied with the Texans for the most team touchdowns with 17. Jaguars had 15 by that time and the Titans with 11.
AFC South QBs most rushing yards in first 4 games:
1. Richardson - 136
2. Lawrence - 101
3. Stroud - 51
4. Tannehill - 28
5. Levis - 15

Richardson has raw talent. I think the Justin Fields comparison is fair. His career will go one of two ways. It'll end up like Justin Fields or he'll be what everybody had hoped Justin Fields would be in the NFL.
I just question his durability and accuracy more than anything. 59.5% completion percentage. If he hovers around that percentage again or the low 60's I just don't see that team doing much outside of playing catch up and relying on his legs too much to make plays.
If his AC joints are already susceptible to injury? What does that mean for his long term future as a passer? How long before he tries taking off downfield and eats a helmet to the knee or gets his ankle rolled up on while staying in the field of play?
QB's like him are fun and terrifying to watch at the same time. I don't know how Bills fans do it with Josh Allen and Ravens fans do it with Lamar Jackson. I would wince anytime they took off and ran with it.

There's this weird vibe around here where they are completely cool with it and basically yell at the TV if Josh DOESN'T carry the ball. Until he fumbles and then they scream he should learn to be more patient. But they do live in this bubble that nothing bad can happen to him bc he's big.

It will catch up to him sooner rather than later. Cam Newton thought he was Superman until he got to around the age of 28, 29. His body started turning on him. Could easily happen to Allen starting this year.
The offensive and defensive lines are vastly improved, Travon Walker takes a 2nd year jump, Trevor cuts way down on the turnovers, Ryan Nielsen cooks up a smothering defense, and the Jaguars go UNDEFEATED.
20-0.

What kind of stat line do you think he gets in year three? Over/under 10.5 sacks? Any big time FF's or FR's you think? I think he'll take another step forward as well on my end.
Looking at 11.0 - 13.0 sacks out of him in year three. At least one defensive TD. Going to be fun seeing how Nielsen deploys him in this new front. Especially with Armstead, a healthier Hamilton and these new rookies in Maason Smith & Jordan Jefferson.

Sacks are so tricky.
Ideally, I would love 13 sacks but winning consistently and being a major disruptor is just fine by me too. He will see A TON of 1 on 1s this year and if he consistently wins those, the Dline will be very very good.

I think we will stop the run better, which will force more pass attempts from the opposition, which will give Travon more opportunities, especially if it's 3rd and long instead of 3rd and medium or short. So my prediction for Travon is 14 sacks.

Agreed. Him and Allen were racking up a pretty good amount of pressures together last year. I expect that to trend upward.
