Florida Supreme Court backs Ron DeSantis on removal of Soros-backed prosecutor
DeSantis accused State Attorney Monique Worrel of 'dereliction of duty'
The Florida Supreme Court ruled in favor of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' decision to remove a Soros-backed prosecutor on Thursday.
DeSantis had suspended
State Attorney Monique Worrel in August 2023, accusing her of "dereliction of duty" when it comes to crime. Worrel sued for reinstatement, arguing her removal was an "arbitrary, unsubstantiated exercise of the suspension power." Thursday's 6-1 ruling shut down her plans.

In this case of democratic talking points, the courts don't work.
This case has absolutely zero to do with Soros.
This is just a prosecutor whom DeSantis identified as being too soft on gun charges and drug trafficking last year.
She applied for reinstatement after Desantis suspended her and was denied.
Of course the 100% Republican appointed FL high court agreed with Droopy-Desantis.
Yawn.
Nice to see DeSantis get a victory after his crushing defeats to Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck

You'll note that the CEO who stepped on his own junk is no longer employed there.

Are you ever right about anything? Lol.
I don't love the governor overruling local voters about the discretion a prosecutor has, even though I voted for Ron and I did not vote for Monique.
Ron should be doing what Rick Scott did. Prosecutors are allowed to cross district and county lines. One of the elected prosecutors from another area that is more in line with Ron should be taking over the controversial cases from the prosecutors that want to buck Ron.
Meanwhile the prosecutor that my neighbors elected should continue prosecuting the non-controversial cases.
Also, of course Ron got his way at the Florida Supreme Court. He appointed so many of them. It reminds me of when some people opposed the Iraq war, and the people who were for it said back in early 2003, "look how quickly we got to Baghdad. Look how they ran away. It was the right decision." No one doubted that the US would quickly defeat Iraq's military. The question was, *should* the US defeat Iraq's military. Similarly, the question here is *should* DeSantis be using his power this way.

Meh. I get where you're going with this. Just don't like the analogy. What happened in the Middle East was planned for years. General Wesley Clark came forward with that years ago. I always found it odd, that, we started a war in Iraq post 9/11, when, it was Osama Bin Laden and Al'CIA'eda that took the victory laps and credit for it.
I was under the impression that Hussein got his come uppin's because he told our Government he was going to start selling his oil for Euro's instead of USD. The same thing that Gaddafi told our Government when he said he wanted to create his own currency, the Dinar, for their resources there, etc.
Anyway, I won't derail the main topic too much. I am 50/50 with DeSantis. There's some things I like about him and some things I don't like. The one thing I appreciated about him the most? Him sticking it to Biden during Covid and Lockdowns. I also appreciate his efforts in getting our Public School System somewhat back to normal.

Wesley Clark did not say that. The source of that quote is his memoir, in which he claims a general at the Pentagon said that.
As for why we went after Iraq post-9/11, there is strong evidence that Bush Jr instigated that war because Saddam Hussein had plotted to assassinate Bush Sr. The 9/11 attacks gave him a wonderful pretext for attacking Iraq.
This was the all-out US war plan for the entire Middle East (wearethemighty.com)

That was part of it for sure, but the treaty the UN made Iraq sign in 1992 with the weapons inspections was a ticking time bomb regardless. No one really believed the weapons inspections were effective, and everyone believed Saddamm was trying to hide things. The only questions were if the weapons he might have were a big enough deal to start a war over, and if so when to go in.
Remember Tony Blair was all for it too. John Kerry and Hillary Clinton were all for it. I think, had Gore won, and had Gore been in office when 9/11 happened, Gore also would have ended up invading Iraq before the 2004 elections.
