The Good

Cooper Hodges - He’s that dude

Engram - could he have a bigger year than last season?

Lawrence - looks sharp and decisive

Brian Thomas - I can’t believe he’s 6’4 and cuts like that

Cam Little - has a powerful leg

Abdullah - worked with the 2’s and had some nice pressure off the right edge. Seems to have put on some bulk and has maintained his quickness. He’s gonna give the Jaguars everything Chaisson couldn’t.

Other guys played well but these jumped out

The Bad

Walker Little - played with the 2’s and 3’s and got beat bad for a sack and wasn’t even close with the spin move.

Maason Smith - has been very good, but there’s no way you can miss a sack like that on a QB3. Lack of focus, call whatever you want but come on baby! You did all the work to get there, now finish the play.

The Ugly

Javon Foster - could he get the Josh Gattis treatment? He by far the worst offensive lineman on the team. He weak down low, he’s stiff and flemsy at the same time. He’s unconditioned, sloppy, seems to not know who to block. Wow. I don’t see how you allow Foster to occupy a roster spot. And there’s no way an NFL GM is going to have a player like that on a gameday roster. Dude is no where close to being an NFL player. He wouldn’t make my practice squad.

I’ve never missed a snap since that 1995 preseason game when Desmond Howard scored the 1st ever TD on that punt return, and I’m using my 1 and only “Super Bowl” chip for this season. Yep! I’m going all in, and I’m riding all the way to the big game with the Jaguars.

#1 goal is win the division, get in the playoffs with the home game and go from there. I like the depth, the coach, and we have the QB, and we have weapons all over the field across the board. I need another big year out of Hines-Allenand Walker and I need Ham and Smith to generate some push and disruption.

Good

I’ve never predicted the Jaguars in the Super Bowl, but I believe they will cash in on all those projections from 2023. I need an MVP type season out of Lawrence. Cam Little is going to do some big things. Tank has his confidence back and looks fluid out there. We got studs at WR, got an all pro returner. We got some depth and flexibility along that offensive line. Got 2 stout DTs. Abdullah is gettin right, which gives us options baby!

Come at me!
Welp, I'm glad you've found this year's official "OH NO! EVERYBODY PANIC BECAUSE A DRAFT PICK ISN"T AN ALL-PRO YET" Whipping Boy.
Tony Boselli thinks Javon Foster has a lot of talent. He said he has good feet.
Maason Smith has been great so far. Pretty sure we have a great one for the future there.

I’ve been worried about this schedule since it came out. Jags need to play well because the schedule will not help this season. Go jags!
Maason Smith has an elite NFL frame and he's been making plays. I was wrong on where I thought he'd be drafted. I wanted him on the third. He's every bit an elite looking DL prospect.

Javon Foster will be fine. Mizzou fan obviously but the guy played elite against SEC talent, he'll be fine. Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up starting RT in a couple years.
Maason will be a late bloomer this season. He's flashed against scrubs here and there. Once the regular season starts he'll start rotating in with the 1's.

Would be happy if he hit 5 sacks as a rookie. His ability to collapse the pocket is nice to see here for once though.

His ceiling is Geno Atkins in my opinion as a potential pass rusher from inside.

One thing for sure, this season's schedule will be a test.

Smith is a massive human. Geno had a natural leverage advantage due to being shorter than basically every player he went against on the OL. He was only 6'1. Smith is 6'5.

Even if Smith has a career half as good as Geno's I'd call that a win. Geno was a stud.
The Good
We were able escape with no injuries. Although one low blow to TL's legs brought me a flash back. Carson Palmer lighting up the Steelers taken out by a low bow to his plant leg by Steelers defensive end Kimo von Oelhoffen in a playoff game. (2008)

Our o-line played together for the first time and with each rep seemed to get better.

Backup o-linemen also seem improved as they get more reps.  The improved on-boarding process seems to be having an impact.  Wasn't that something Baalkie complained about at the end of last season? Doug seems to have embraced this.

The Bad
Since the Falcons did not play any of their starters All Jags played against backups we will not see that in the regular season. I had been hoping to have a better level of talent to use as a measuring stick.

The Ugly
The game was played on a Friday night causing me to have to intermittently watch the game on my phone. Frday night I go ballroom dancing early then Latin dancing later.  In the fuure I wish they would consult me for approval before scheduling these games.

Broooo, ball room dancing?? That’s awesome!!

@Caldrac, what’s your thoughts about ol Abdullah?
Good: Tank is looking like a great second RB option. Trammell making decisions difficult for the FO. Our kicker looks reliable and strong, hoping he keeps it up now that games matter. Most importantly, we did exactly what was expected when you outmatch your opponent.

Bad: We had a grand total of 0 kick returns Friday. Not good for everyone who thought the new rule was something we'd have to manipulate to gain an advantage.

Ugly: No complaints. Not often you get a lopsided win like that.

@Caldrac, what’s your thoughts about ol Abdullah?
Yasir has plenty of upside and room to grow still. Flashed more pass rushing ability this preseason. I think he can be molded into a poor man's Hasaan Reddick with Nielsen and Co.

I think he'll be an interesting guy to watch in 3rd and long situations if he's out there.
