It's back! This Week in the AFC South returns for its 11th season...get those crystal balls warmed up!

All credit to our good friend Bullseye for making this the tradition that it is and the great folks who keep the show running in his absence. For those new to TWITAFCS, here's the rundown:

- Previews should be posted at least 2-3 days before the first AFC South game of the week;
- Pick who you think will win each game (outright, no dealing with spreads, fantasy points, or other gambling mumbo jumbo), feel free to embellish with scores, predictions, or just dumping on garbage teams like the 'tacks.
- You can change picks up till kickoff. You can't change a pick because A. A. Ron blows an Achilles on the fourth play.
- After the games, feel free to share your results. We promise not to laugh at you for picking the tacks to win.
- If previews aren't posted yet for a week, feel free to start one! Nobody here (Bullseye included) claims ownership of TWITAFCS.
- Have fun! There's no trophies involved, we're all here to dump on the tacks have a good time.

As promised, I will try to keep a sheet to track picks or results so we have an easier way of tracking week to week. Stay tuned for details.

Can you believe the 2024 season is nearly upon us!?!? Let's get things started:

HOU @ IND: Last year, Richardson started out against a division rival, and was banged up before the final gun. Will it be different this year? The tinhorns have become the cool pick among the media, do they meet the hype, or does it go to their head?

TN @ CHI: Speaking of media hype, Caleb Williams comes into this game shouldering some exceptional expectations. How does he handle his first game? The tacks have been spending like they got money on fire, and look to be a completely new team compared to last season. Does this equal different results?

JAX @ MIA: In contrast to the tacks, Duval spent a ton this offseason too, but retained most of their key pieces. Did the few additions they made equal a stronger team? Miami always starts out fast, do they come out on fire, or take a while to warm up? This looks to be the matchup of the week.

We're all starting with clean slates at 0-0. Here's my picks for the week:

tinhorns 30 indynoplace(H) 20: Stroud and co. are too much for indy.
BURRS 17 tacks 16: This will be close, but it will also be ugly. Couldn't take the tacks based on the intro, even if it means a potential loss in the standings.
Duval 27 PHINS 21: Wishing it into existence. If we win the turnover battle and eat up TOP we gotta chance.

Happy picking, folks!
Jaguars over Dolphins: 27 to 24.
tacks over Bears: 20 to 17.
tinhorns over clots: 31 to 23.
Dolphins over the Jaguars, I don't think the Jags have the secondary to contain Hill and Waddle.
Texans over the Colts, it will come down to the Texans defense stopping the Colts run game (Robinson in particular) but they get it done.
Bears over the Titans, I think Caleb and Odunze will put points on the board in a close game.
Jags over Dolphins. Chubb out and no Wilkins anymore makes me more confident in our OL. We can keep pace offensively and I think Nielson's scheme will help with the speed and misdirection that usually kills us. Plus the NFL cracking down on those "cheat" motions keeps Hill slightly more in check.

Houston over Indy. While I think Houston won't quite match the hype they're being given, I also think Richardson isn't going to do much better. The reports all camp of his accuracy issues are a problem for them and his athleticism can only get him so far, especially considering how quickly he got banged up last year.

Bears over Tacks. I have the same accuracy concerns with Caleb as I do with Richardson, but that Chicago team is stacked. Ridley was still having drop issues during camp and idk what to make of Levis at this point.
First off all thank you to bullseye for getting this started a few years ago ,lets keep him and his health in our thoughts and prayers as well as his family.

Seconedly thank you Mikey for really stepping up ,and keeping this going for all of us.

now with all of that being said time for the tough part. Watch out for the wolf this year.

       Texans over colts

       Bears over tittians

I'm calling this  right now ,and should get a extra 1/2 point when it happens.

Jags over dolphins as cam little kicks a game winning fg as time expires from 56yds to win the game.  Jags fans will be saying pig sooie.
Dolphins - I just think they hit on too many big plays. Like the vs. Charger in 23 or vs. Baltimore in 22.

Titans - This is purely due to expecting a rookie QB to make mistakes in their first NFL game. Also, I think people are overrating the Bears defense. Their end of season run was highly due to 5 games with 3-4 TO's mostly due to Interceptions. I think Tenn will minimize the chances that happens.

Colts - I think there are more chances for new wrinkles for the Colts offense that surprises the Texans rather than the other way around. I also think the Colts Rush Offense and Defense can hit the biggest weaknesses of the Texans. Plus they are probably pissed off about how Game 17 ended and that will fuel them.
Texans over Colts
Titans over Bears
Dolphins over Jaguars
I think I have the spreadsheet working. If someone is able, please PM me to do a quick troubleshoot before I distribute. I just need a few checks: does the link work, can you edit, can you unhide sheets, etc

Thanks!
Tacks
Fins
Texans
OK my picks. In each case the winner will have more points than the loser.

Winner Jags - Loser Miami
Winner Hoseton - Loser Colts
Winner Bears - Loser TenIsee
HOU @ IND: Houston

TN @ CHI: Chicago

JAX @ MIA: Jacksonville
Hi again everyone! Super pumped for another season and hoping this is one for the Jags fans to remember. Here are my picks:

Texans over Colts - I think Richardson throws a game changing pick

Bears over Titans - I think the Bears are better than many think, but they are starting rookie QB. So, I could see this going the other way, but because it's the Titans I think they lose, and Ridley runs too many wrong routes lol.

Dolphins over Jags - I Definitely believe the Jags can win but I'll give the nod to the home team. I just need to see them play before I get a better opinion of what I think they are. I have an idea, but I want to see it.

Good Luck All!
Texans
Bears
Dolphins
Colts seem to give Houston fits regardless of talent so Clots over the tinhorns

Is the Caleb hype real? Time will tell but Bears over the stinking tacks

Dolphins start fast in recent years and score a ton of points. Unfortunately they will be looking ahead at the Thursday Night game next week. Jaguars steal this one in an unusually high scoring opening day game.
Jaguars
Titans
Texans
Texans over Colts
Jaguars over Dolphins
Bears over Titans

TWITAFCS sheet

If somebody can test this link out and reply, lemme know:
  • can you access the standings/view the sheet?
  • can you edit a cell? use a blank cell in column G or something, please don't overwrite a formula
  • can you see/unhide hidden sheets?

Thanks for any feedback! This should make tracking super easy.

So I can view the sheet, but it comes up in read-only mode.  So I can see the spreadsheet, but can't edit it.  Can't edit Column G, and can't see the hidden sheets.  I did request write access with a 'testing it' message.

Perfect. Exactly what I was hoping for. I got that request, too. Thanks for your help! I may unhide the picks sheet so everyone can confirm selections, but I'd rather keep the sheet as view only and picks be made on the board. I'm recording picks as they are posted and I'll be sure to update picks that qualify before changing to results.

Edit: Sheet updated with picks visible. Quick explanation: PW and PL are entries for pick to win/lose. If AFCS plays AFCS I take one of the teams out and log picks based on win/lose for the other team. So anyone who picks the clots in W1 are listed as PL for HOU.
I'll go texans, tacks, phins.

Texans because the colts suck on opening day. Tacks because the NFL hates us so everyone in the division gets to help the bears rookie take his lumps before he looks like Tom Brady against us. The phins because Khan never learned his lesson.
