Well guess what? Etienne is tiny. He's a glorified scat back. I understand that NFL backs need to be able to pass block. But you also have to play to players' strengths. Etiene is a shifty and agile purely skill player. His tremendous receiving ability makes up for his lack of pass pro in my opinion. I get that we don't want to be predictable by using other backs to pass block but guess what? we already are predictable. Time to use tank and DJ.

Etienne: 5'10" 215 lbs
Tank: 5'11" 215 lbs

Ope!
I had hoped Etienne would be this multi purpose open space back similar to Kamara. Which would have justified his first round status. But he just isn't that. It is a risk taking a RB first round as typically the value doesnt make sense. It appears that risk didn't pay off unfortunately.

Mehhhh. I'll agree on the lack of net return value wise in picking a RB in the first round. However, Etienne was on a good pace last year behind CMC and he didn't have NEAR the luxury of playing on a stacked offense with an above average offensive line while racking up his yardage.

He has fallen a little short of my expectations overall though. I was hoping to see him also turn into a Kamara type. It just doesn't seem like that will happen. They've tried getting him involved this year in the passing game. He did have a slip in the back of the endzone that could have been a TD pass to him against Cleveland.

If Lawrence hits him on that 3rd and 1 under pressure in Houston that's another decent gain and maybe we're not either using him enough to be fair in the passing game or Lawrence is just more concerned with chunk plays downfield Vs. taking the layups to him underneath.

It is something to watch moving forward though. Been wanting to see more split backfield stuff with him and Bigsby for this very reason. To help give Lawrence an option in the passing game. He needs a safety valve with Engram still out. Maybe more screens could be called as well. We'll see.
Etienne still has a chance to be just the 3rd player in franchise history to rush for 1,000 yards in 3 or more seasons.

This shotgun crap ain’t helping him. Etienne is everything Tavian Banks was supposed to be.

That's fine and all, but signing him to a big new deal would be a huge mistake.
He will be cheap

I'm a huge fan of ENT.  flsprtgod lamented the pick...  I'm beginning to realize he was right.  It would have been better for Baalke to get a baller on the D or O line instead of ETN.

There's gonna be a team that gets the best out of him.  But I don't think it's gonna be our team.
Etienne ain’t special like a Fred Taylor or a Maurice Jones-Drew so if he moves on to another team, we will have guys lined up out the door that won’t have much fall-off.

He’s above average but that’s about it. He don’t have 1500+ in him.

This boy ain’t even tryin’

What’s crazy is the oline is doing their job on these plays and Etienne is selling.

It's hard to successfully pass block w/an injured shoulder.

NH3...

It's really not about ETN personally, I love the guy. It's just about his value to the team over the long term as a running back. Especially when we suddenly have Bigsby showing up, it just validates that you can churn the position with lower value replacement cost than a 1st rounder. I honestly don't think Snoop Conner ever got enough of a chance, he'd be a perfectly fine 2nd or 3rd guy behind Bigsby right now. And we gave up pick to move up to take him! We also have a 5th rounder from this year who isn't even on the roster that we have to make room for eventually. Yeah, he's more of a gimmick guy, but I'm sure he could post 10 touches a game without too much strain. It just doesn't make sense to spend money on a back when the line in front of him needs so much work.

And man, what I wouldn't trade for a monster run blocking right guard right about now. I'd gladly take a little lower pass pro skill in exchange for a grader who pushes his man 3 yards off the ball every play.
Probably lost his starting role after this Colts game.

Bigsby - 13 carries for 101 yards, 2 TD

Etienne - 7 carries for 17 yards. 0 TD

Jaguars leading rusher - Tank Bigsby 273 rushing yards (Etienne has 231 rushing yards with 26 more rushing attempts than Bigsby.

Jaguars longest rush this season - Tank Bigsby, 58 yards

Tank Bigsby “The Finisher”
johnson was playing ahead of ETN , has to be an injury
