Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: Bortles a budding star QB, but must become much more consistent. Accuracy an issue. So is predetermining throws.

Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: Bortles good escape ability but is still willing to move with patience and nuance in the pocket. A real positive.

Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: At its best, Bortles’s arm as good as almost anyone in the NFL.

https://twitter.com/Andy_Benoit/status/7...5276147712

Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: Bortles a bit of a methodical thrower. One reason why Jags feature so many slower-developing downfield routes.

Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: this offense as vertical as any in the NFL. Tied w/ Saints for NFL-high 72 passes of 20 or more yds last yr.

Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: along with Redskins, Jags have the NFL’s best first down play-action game. A huge component of their attack.

https://twitter.com/Andy_Benoit/status/7...6236470272

Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: a vertical passing attack also suits big, longer-striding WRs Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns well.

Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: would expect more from TE Thomas this yr. Has had a yr in the scheme now, healthy this offseason. Good fit for JAX pass game

https://twitter.com/Andy_Benoit/status/7...4810334212

Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: T.J. Yeldon can be a top 5 RB. Won’t be this yr (Ivory will steal some production), but skill set is there.

https://twitter.com/Andy_Benoit/status/7...3950182400

Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: Yeldon light feet, excellent short-area lateral agility. He’s Le’Veon Bell with less polish and less speed.

https://twitter.com/Andy_Benoit/status/7...0729917441

Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: Hard to imagine Joeckel holding onto LT job. Really poor anchor and unsteady hands. Beachum better.

https://twitter.com/Andy_Benoit/status/7...1606390785

Tweet from Andy Benoit (@Andy_Benoit) - #Jaguars Notes: RG Cann encouraging improvements as a rookie in ’15. Eager to see him in '16.

Thanks for posting. How much does Andy Benolt follow the Jaguars and know about them?

I agree on his Luke Joeckel analysis. It is telling that he did not get a fifth year option here. He is playing a lot because Beachum can't.

Does the present tense in some tweets refer to 2015 or the last two weeks?

Aside from the 1st down play-action stat, there's nothing new to me there, but it's always nice to see folks outside the market paying attention.

Good stuff, though.
I would say that Bortles has improved in the fixated throw category as well. He has on multiple occasions this preseason reached the 3rd and 4th options in progressions and I haven't really seen him drop back and force a pass.

Gone are the days of 3 yards and a cloud of dust. What a welcome change to finally have modern day football! This team will be fun to watch the next dozen years.

I hope we don't have trouble re-signing any of these guys when the time comes

The offense has a chance to be one of the best in the league this year.

The scary part (not for us, but for other teams) is how young they are. They are stacked with second (Yeldon, Cann, Greene) and third year (Bortles, Lee, Robinson, Linder, Hurns) players.

How much better will the play action get, when we can actually make a successful 1st down run?

Allen Hurns already has a big contract. I expect Dave Caldwell to exercise the team's fifth year option for Blake Bortles. It is only a matter of time before Allen Robinson gets paid.

The big story of next offseason is resigning/extending Bortles, Linder, Smith, Arob.

I imagine it in this order.

  1. pick up 5th year option
  2. long term arob deal / francise tag
  3. Lavonte David style Smith contract
  4. Linder extension
What is a Lavonte David style contract?

5 year 50 mil.

For #50. I like it.
We better pay Telvin. He's the face of the defense and the future leader of the entire unit.

Edit: Well, Jack too, but Telvin will be the older wise one.

With the older guys' careers/contracts coming to an end, we'll be able to clear some cap room. I think we're at a very nice spot as far as our cap is concerned, so I don't see how Dave will have a hard time giving our players new contracts. Unless they want out of Jacksonville and want to play somewhere else. That would suck.

Who are "the older guys" with expiring contracts? A lineman over 30 just joined the team this summer. Poz has shown no signs of a pending retirement. A lot of players will be cut by September 5 no matter how old or young they are. When I read the word old or older, I can count all of the players in that age group with one hand.

Mercedes Lewis, this is Poz's likely final year here unless he takes a huge pay cut.  Most of the other fat has already been trimmed.  Next up would be Parnell, Odrick, Marks but thats 2-3 seasons away I think.

It is only likely to be Posluszny's last year if he something crazy happens. He does not need a huge pay cut.

Parnell and Odrick joined the team last year so their contracts are not close to expiring yet.

I agree about Poz.  They are grooming Jack to take over at MLB and if healthy, he might be the starter by October.  They will probably stick Pullard on the PS to be Jack's backup in 2017.  This could also be the end for Marks.  Malik has taken his position and they have Day and Bennett that could be backups in 2017.  I think they hide Day on the DL this season and Bennett takes the last DL spot.

I think Parnell and Odrick will be around a few more years.
