Yes, Elon Musk has had a ton of his work done for him by the US Budget Committe.  This spending was put forth by the Biden Administration without Congressional approval.  It is only a mere $2 trillion dollar cost to accomplish his Executive orders. Take a look online or download the PDF.

Additionally Biden signed another one that eliminated the cost-benefit calculations. Guess he didn't like how they turned out. So Elon will have to do his own.

Musk isn't a government official. He has no power.

Trump will find uses for him, though. He's like a jumping bean.

Also, how is "net interest payments" the President's fault? It unconstitutional for the US government to default on debt.

We know Republicans aren't going to cut spending, because they didn't do it last time. These economic girlymen are not going to raise taxes either, they're just going to complain for the next four years about the deficit they "inherited."

My understanding is that that 2 trillion-dollar cost is over a 10-year period.  So eliminate all that stuff, and you have eliminated less than 10% of the projected annual deficits.

Depends on the individual order. The time frame is there for each. However it does give Elon a starting point to begin with, which is the point.

Absolutely.

But I would add, fixing the deficit/debt problem will not be easy.  We will have to cut Medicare and social security, and tax cuts have to be off the table.

Also I would add there are many more that CBO or OIRA just did not look at as Biden stopped them. He signed this executive order.

Lets be serious

First, the bar right now is low. If you use the Government's own inflation cost calculator a good that cost $1.00 before Biden will cost you $1.21 today.

Second, the government like any good business needs a good cleaning time to time. It does not mean the people are bad. A business has revenue it gets from consumers. Sure it can raise prices, but this could affect sales and actually reduce revenue. They have competition. that keeps them in check. So periodically they either get more productive, cut waste and cut "dead wood" or they fade into oblivion.

Our Government does not have that same check. They just increase revenue (taxes) after all it is someone else's money. The voters this election and in a pretty substantial way are applying that pressure.

**opinion** We do not have a taxing issue, we have a spending issue. There are many other issues but financially this is the root cause of our financial problems.

There will have to be austerity measures across the board to reel in the deficit. The problem for enacting such measures is twofold.

The first is a populace (individuals, corporations, government agencies and many other entities too numerous to list) addicted to government largess and the expectation of a larger handout every year.
The second is a political class, of both parties, that is more interested in keeping those elected office paychecks and the accompanying graft rather than doing the dirty work of getting the budget under control.

We need to throw the bums out. Sounds simplistic, but the entrenched directorate is bleeding this country dry.
