Quote:Ahh. I forgot you're supposed to let him catch the ball, run beside him for 40 yards, and very carefully nudge him out of bounds.
The receiver did catch the ball and ran with it. There is no way you can call him defenseless.

Nudge? Why so aggressive? Respectfully ask him to go out of bounds.

lol damn you beat me to it! I was thinking the exact same thing. Or lure him out of bounds with an early bird dinner!
What is this about nudging him out of bounds? I did not see that at all.
Quote:Thompson was flagged for unnecessary roughness on that play.
You are confusing this with Peyton's flag in the end zone when he came in high as a DB was already tackling the receiver.
He was NOT flagged for the hit in this gif.
(check play-by-play at 3:27 to go in the third)
Quote:That hit looked textbook. He hit him square in the target zone, wasn't too high, and didn't launch. What am I missing that the refs saw?
It was textbook. No flags.
Quote:It was textbook. No flags.
So why are fans complaining?
Quote:Not to be a Debbie Downer, but it is only a short matter of time before that hit will also be "illegal". Players will have a 2 yard buffer before they can be "hit" or "engaged".
My inner cynic agrees. Might as well suit up with belts and flags at that point.
Quote:So why are fans complaining?
They just confused this with another play when Thompson
was flagged.

I don't know how they can do that. It is pretty obvious when plays happen in the end zone.
Quote:Alcohol.
LOL And these people are able to type complete sentences . . .
You're allowed to hit a "defenseless" receiver, just not in the head or neck.

Unless that "receiver" is a punter or kicker.

Why would a team play a punter or kicker at wide receiver?

Fake field goals and punts.
Quote:Wasn't even a hard hit
If the runner goes down, you know it is a hard hit. Slow motion replays create optical illusions.
