During the replay of the post-game speech Pederson gave to the team, the goal of going 5-0 was repeated a disturbing number of times. This illusion could actually happen now that we are playing teams that are as bad or worse than we are. We finish 7 - 10 with a 5 game win streak, and Khan retains both Doug and Trent. We weaken our draft, retain players/coaches that should be released, and then repeat the same lousy performance in 2025. it's going to be bad enough that the team is going to be nomadic for the next 3 years without
having to endure the same dreadful product as well.
Was there a "lets go 6 and 0" mantra before the Tacks game? Would have made more sense considering we werent mathematically eliminated at that point.
Belichick has been spotted passing through Hemming Park to get a coffee.
I don’t see them keeping their jobs. Shad said before the season, essentially playoffs or bust. I think Doug is certainly done. It’s a little cloudier with Baalke, he’s like a cockroach and seems to survive anything but if I had to bet on it, I’d guess they’re both gone regardless.

I'm with you. I think they are just riding out time here. No amount of wins the rest of the season is going to suddenly change decisions. I don't think 3-14 or 7-10 makes a difference with firing them. If none/one/both survive, whatever the record, they were always going to be fired/given another year.
To be fair, this is what Doug should be saying.
However, a disciplined owner should be able to see the 47-10 and 52-6 losses as more than enough evidence that a full reset is needed. Which is why I argue Doug should have been let go already, and it wouldn’t matter at all what the interim does because it’s set already. The decision to clean house should already be made. Whatever Doug does to finish this out SHOULDNT matter, but it’s Shad Con and he doesn’t want to open up his schedule in January for a full on GM/HC search. This team is so unserious about everything that Tony Khan was spotted at the cowboys/bengals game last night, having a great time. You know, the same Tony Khan that the Chief Football Strategy Officer.
This team is by far the most unserious with everything associated.

Agreed. It's a shame this team floundered as bad as it did this season. The tinhorns are not that great of a team this year and this division was very much winnable. This team has lost a handful of games this year by very, very few points and I think that could be something Khan looks at, however, the fact that this same front office and coaching staff fell woefully short should be enough to get them canned collectively.
You had it right in 2022, you had it on the right track in 2023, you completely fell off the track in 2024. There's just not enough there to save grace as far as I am concerned going into 2025. Need a new coach with a new approach and identity that can get this team consistently moving in the right direction.
People have been pointing out the possibility of ending the season 5-0 since the Bears loss in London effectively killed any chance for the playoffs, and how it could cause Baalke and/or Pederson to be retained.
At this point I'm resigned to there being no meaningful changes to coaching staff or FO.
They will fire/let go some underlings like Rauschner, Tettleon, Austin, Williams, Mutunga, Richard, Robinson, Garrett, and Gray. But the main people will still be there.
How bout you try going 5-0 at the start of the year Doug? Absolutely pathetic
25 wins in any given three years in pretty close to the franchise record if they pull it off.
And everyone will be terribly sad if it happens,
Funny the way it s.

That's where I do feel sorry for Doug. He had back to back winning seasons for the first time in 20 years. Injuries killed us down the stretch last year and that crazy 5 minutes in Miami in week 1 rattled us and we never recovered. If Doug had been a bit more vocal about not having players he wanted or fitted the scheme some fans may give him a pass for this year.
Sadly firing Caldwell for Nielsen and going out of the way to protect Press has hurt him. Plus he's been struggling to deal with the pressure and a scrutiny as the seasons got worse. I don't think he's helped himself much this season.

It's this last part in bold that sealed his fate for me in my opinion. His inability to hire the right defensive coordinator has crushed him completely. It now appears that he was carried on that side of the football with Jim Schwartz in Philadelphia during his lone Cinderella season. The narrative of Press Taylor carrying down here has come back to bite him once again. His overall attitude and demeanor this season has been very smug, dejected and not something I was expecting from him.
This just feels like the funk that carried over from their collapse from last year and him failing miserably in being able to shake it off. Not sure how true the rumors were in regards to Baalke being in on the Nielsen interview and/or hiring process, but, he also deserves a good amount of blame. While it was nice and refreshing that he instilled some winning consistency here in 2022 and 2023, it was this year in particular that should give us all pause and feel more comfortable moving on now while we still have Lawrence, Hines-Allen and Campbell early into their recent contract extensions.
There's plenty of solid candidates to go after in 2025. Bill Belichick, Mike Vrabel, Ben Johnson, Brian Flores, Joe Brady and Steve Spagnuolo should be on this team's radar in my opinion. They need a tough, gritty type of coach that has a clear vision of how he wants his team to look week in and week out. We can say whatever we want about Doug's tenure here, the reality, is that, since he's been here? It's lacked an identity. It pretty much boiled down to the following:
1. Trevor Lawrence carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders and having to play perfect 9 times out of 10 to avoid playing Hero Ball.
2. Lucky gambles that either made or broke you in 2022 and 2023.
3. Lack of quality depth or creativity when injuries started occurring.
Baalke waiting until this off season to replace Fortner. Drafting guys early last year that took an entire year to see glimpses of skill in Strange, Bigsby and Miller while seeing some degree of regression in guys like Lloyd, Cisco and Johnson. Extending Cam Robinson while denying Walker Little the proper opportunity to develop as an early 2nd RD investment. Waiting too long to address the LG position and finding a viable replacement in Scherff at RG, etc.
This recent free agency class should have him fired alone in my opinion. Armstead, Darby, Duvernay, Savage & Davis have really done nothing to boost nor amplify the team as a whole. I also find it frustrating that Maason Smith as a recent 2nd RD pick is just now getting more opportunities on the field and, once again, for the second or really third straight year in a row? There's virtually ZERO pass rush outside of Hines-Allen and Walker, and, there's no push consistently from within the interior and the offensive line is still a little suspect at times in the ground game in short yardage situations.

That's a perfect post Caldrac. That right there is our problems perfectly explained.
With what Doug walked into and how we looked the first half of last season, it was an insane turnaround. All the things us fans had wanted to see from our players. How it has collapsed so quickly and so badly I'll never know but sure would love to. Doug seems to have just accepted it. He doesn't get angry, he doesn't demand more from the team. I've lost count how many times I've heard him say he doesn't know how to fix it. It's like he's lost his fight.
I really agree with what you list as our identity. 2022 was a magical year but boy did we get some breaks go our way. The team showed incredible spirit and fight but we got so many good bounces of luck. I 100% agree about needing Trevor to play hero ball and the lack of quality depth has been the real killer.
As you list, Baalke had done a bad job bringing in quality competition to push the standards of the team higher. We've struggled to add through the draft and while he has had success with FA, the recent additions have hurt us so badly and will for another year or two. We still have plenty that needs improving and hopefully a new GM and HC can start building that culture and scheme that fits their ways of playing.
I just hope we finally address the GM and HC positions sensibly and together for once. Not just throwing two guys together again and expecting it to click.

Expect the worst, never be disappointed.
I don't think 5-0 happens. The rest? Well, I will believe when I see.

Do or do not, there is no try.
I honestly believe we tried. We just failed miserably.
Everyone is getting fired. This season has been atrocious.
I agree that coaches should get fired. However, to play devils advocate, how many close games did this team lose this season? Is it not an nfl record? This will be the reason the head coach might get one more chance. Sorry but I feel it in the air tonight. I would definitely fire press Taylor and demand Doug calls the offensive. I would fire balkie but unfortunately I think he would stay under this scenario. The dc I’m not sure about. The team is playing solid on defense at times, but I don’t like the fact they weren’t blitzing enough through out the year. It’s been mostly bad, so he’s fired too most likely.

I just don't think it's a good enough excuse really. This is the second year in a row now where your franchise QB has missed significant game time and we're seeing the same issues again for the second year in a row. There's a lack of cohesion and it feels like this team is too busy trying to find it's identity on a week-to-week basis.
Baalke has to go. Pederson has to go. Lawrence needs better structure around him on offense and this defense needs more discipline and horses up front to drive it down a line of success. Lastly, that front office needs a figurehead that can hold everybody accountable.
For me, if I was in Khan's shoes? The moment Lawrence ate that concussion two weeks ago at home would have been the straw that broke the camel's back for me. He's been playing like that since Doug's been here and that's also a big part of coaching, and, Lawrence having to play [BLEEP] hero ball in every game is also on Baalke for not building a better roster and depth chart.

To counterargue the devil's advocate, most of our close losses were coming up short of a comeback rather than blowing a lead. Far too often we would start out flat and take an entire half to figure out how to manage any competition. Credit to the team for not giving up and getting blown out, but far too often our week of prep resulted in abrupt, scoreless drives and a chasm to try and dig ourselves out of.
We've had (mostly) the same moving parts on the offense for three seasons, and we still appear disjointed. That's damning.
We got 2 first overall picks and have 3 wins. If a team wants a player bad enough they can go up and get him.

I still can't believe he's going to be coaching at UNC next year. It's just weird to me. I know his Dad was a college coach, maybe NAVY? Can't quite remember. But, it's just odd to me that he was very close to breaking Shula's all-time winning record and you'd think he'd want to go for that in the NFL instead of messing around for five years at this age at the college level.
Unless he thinks he can get a lot of talent now with just his name and flip that program into an Alabama type dynasty. Especially with how the money stuff works now and how the transfer portal stays wide open with more talent in and out of it I guess.
