Jaguars move on from Engram and others...

NH3...
I hope all of these trades, and releases are so jags can get higher cap,and get some very strong offensive lineman to protect our qb.
He’s been so reliable - I wonder what their plan is Strange is good but what else do we have outside of him? Seems like too many moves we need to make to be in WIN now mode

They have 1 TE on the roster as the others are FAs. Strange hopefully is ready to be a starter.

Next year won't be easy unless they can find some cheap replacements. OL, TE, and WR all need multiple replacements and that is just on offense.

As of yesterday it was reported that we now have the 7th. highest Cap Amount in the NFL. We're getting ready for FA and hopefully we'll be able to sign quality players.

Time Will Tell.

Engram redefined the TE position around here and they move on from him. I don’t get this one.

Youth movement. They're going to add players who will be here more than just one more season.
Maybe we're drafting Tyler Warren and freeing up cap space to build an actual offensive line. I'm surprised we still have Gabe Davis? Like why.
Breaking news Jags are trading Trevor to bills for josh allen. that's why we kept gabe davis.  LOL I'm kidding.
I do not get this move. Unless his cap hit was really high but lets see how it plays out.

Don’t like this one bit. I’m no expert at roster building but I would have absolutely kept him.

I’ll still wear my Engram jersey VERY proudly.

Strange looked good last year so hopefully he can be a good player as a full time. Also much cheaper.
I see this as a shift philosophically.

Tight ends in this offense will need to block. engram was essentially a receiver and nothing else.

Davis costs them $13 million extra to cut him this year, that's why.

Maybe they use Davis a bit differently. Ingram was a hybrid TE/Slot receiver.
I do miss Clint Ingram but he wasn't that great tbh
Baalke is gone, game on [BLEEP]

It's a young man's game for sure, but your whole roster can't be that way if you expect to be any good.  I get Kirk's trade/release and I'm not necessarily so against Engram being let go.  I do think Strange showed out well enough last year when he got his opportunities and expect him to take another step forward this year, however, Engram's release jibes with a new GM wanting his own guys as much as he's able to do that.  Hopefully, there is a plan behind this move more than Gladstone just thinking "just get the prior GM's guys out of here so my success isn't tied to him."  This decision will be interesting to see how the ramifications play out this season i.e. does Engram go ball out elsewhere while we struggle somewhat offensively by not having enough weapons for Trevor.

I just hope it's not the "get the prior GM's guys out of here" mindset driving decisions is all.  Releasing an aging vet doesn't necessarily mean that though.  Engram will be 31 in September after all.  Not the end of the road, but not a spring chicken either.  I'm not sold on Gladstone enough to trust him jettisoning some of our younger guys that have decent draft capital invested in them if he decides to start doing that too.  I hope he doesn't.
Lawrence is gonna end up using that half a bill on some pistorius blades

We saved 10M but still has some Dead $$$ on the books while releasing Engram. Also our offensive philosophy garners more of a blocking TE vs. a catching TE. We signed an FA TE, hopefully he'll fill the void.

Time Will Tell.

Strange is that blocking TE, but I don’t see him catching 114 footballs in a season. If Strange continues to excel in the run game, it will help the RB position. Bigsby is primed for a 1,000+ yard season and maybe 10+TDs.
