Agreed. If the guy is a grown adult, he can make his own decisions.
I would never try to influence a friend of mine to convert to my "lifestyle choices" just because I don't agree with his. It doesn't matter if it's healthy eating/exercising or if they choose to smoke or choose to drink alcohol.
Now if a friend asked for help, that's another thing.
It can depend on the depth and length of a friendship. I have many acquaintances, a few casual friends, but only 1 person outside my family I consider a close friend, and he's like a brother. If I thought he was eating himself to death I would probably tell him. Once.

I suppose it depends on your relationship really.
I'm very close to my friends, if I was concerned about one of them, I'd approach them with it.. respectfully of course.
I know it would be appreciated and reciprocated should the need arise.
