So this was my first taste of a Souls game. I hated it. Played about 2 hours and returned it to redbox. Graphics were great, combat was alright. But it just seems pointless. Walk around and kill these monsters, why? Who cares.
I can understand the appeal to people, but I like my RPGs to have a good story.

Theres a great story, they just don't tell you it. It is buried in item descriptions and hidden in the world around you.

Which is all well and good. But I just can't get into it enough to actually do all that. I'm running around killing all these enemies for no apparent reason. Just got boring

I hear you, its not a game for everyone thats for sure. At least you are killing things and not quitting because everything is killing you.
Mistake number one, buying the 'third one' when you havent played the 'first one' or the 'second one'.
Borderlands is where it's at.
