I know we traded him for two picks, but does anyone know who got with those two picks?   I think it was a 4th and 5th rounder.

Aaron Colvin and Chris Smith.

He belongs in the Jags ring of honor
Colvin for Monroe...

lol
Was always a class act, wish him well. The news made me think about the Jaguars going with Joeckel in 2013, though. I looked through the draft selections again, and while we could have taken Lane Johnson or Ziggy Ansah, that draft was full of trap players. We ended up with a guy that was a mediocre tackle during the rough years, might be a decent guard during the good years, and a better value. By trading Monroe, we got Colvin (and Smith, though he probably won't make the roster this year), and avoided paying Monroe a bunch of money that eventually covered the Beadles and Gerhart contracts. And Monroe got a shot to play for a contender before retiring. Could have worked out worse for everyone.

Good player while he was here. I wish him well in whatever he does next.
people still think it was a bad trade lol

And they will be forever wrong.  That's a mighty long time.
Good decision by Eugene Monroe,  especially considering his apparent high concerns about his long term health because of football.

:woot: I believe it's apparent that his main concern is about getting high. :woot:

Uhh...no.

It's indeed likely that Eugene Monroe has already reached the point in his life that functioning on a daily basis is challenging because of the wear and tear from playing football.   Hence,  the need for some form of medication,  whether its conventional or an alternative source of medication.

I was gonna say, his recent very outward activism related to the sweet stinky may have accelerated his retirement plans somewhat.

Yeah and good for Monroe! We have toxic stuff like cigarettes and alcohol readily legal and available at your local corner store. It makes you wonder why there is a ban on drugs in general. Did the prohibition teach us anything? History rarely does. You end the war on drugs, you end the cartel. Look at Portugal's way of handling it, use and admission for use down quite a bit compared to when it was illegal. I believe you are the sole owner of your body and you should be able to freely chose what to consume. He wasn't terrible while here, glad he got out while still young and healthy.
Still better than Joeckel
