For what? Exercising (very poorly) his freedom of speech? The "punishment" has already been handed down in the form of an apology written for him by the Browns' PR staff, and a reminder that his salary isn't guaranteed.

Another day, another 9 million classless social media posts.  This was but one drop in a vast ocean of bad internet decisions.  I'm sure he's been given his "talking to."

Loomis has a specific suggestion for what Crowell needs to do next.


“He needs to go to Dallas, help the families who lost their loved ones last week, write them a check, look them in the eyes and give a heartfelt apology,” Loomis told TMZ. If Crowell doesn’t, there will be consequences.


“I will pull Cleveland officers, sheriffs, state troopers out of First Energy Stadium this season if he doesn’t make it right,” Loomis said. “You’re a grown-[BLEEP] man, and you claim you were too emotional to know it was wrong? Think we’ll accept your apology? Kiss my [BLEEP].”

Welcome to America in 2016: where freedom of speech is secondary to not hurting anyone's feelings.

 

I'm sure there are contracts in place that make the chief's threat a hollow one. His whine-and-cheese fest is entirely symbolic. The canned apology is done, and it sounds like Crowell is going to have hell to pay once he shows up at camp.

 

To be perfectly blunt, if Dallas hadn't happened a few hours after Crowell's post, no one would have cared outside of Cleveland.

That picture looked like an ISIS beheading...what the hell is wrong with people?

This just actually happened in MINN. The WNBA team up there wore tshirts supporting BLM and demanding "Justice" for the police shootings in MN/LA prior to Dallas.


The police security at the game walked out and left it unprotected. Their Police Chief supported the decision, and stated he was willing to keep police security absent for the rest of their games too

(story was on Yahoo News earlier today).


So, this has already happened. Now, pulling security from a WNBA game is one thing. Pulling police security from an actual NFL game?

No way I see that happening. That would be ridiculously dangerous,, a potential disaster waiting to happen.

If I were a Cleveland citizen I would be disappointed with this reaction. Why does he choose to make more conflict here? Express your distaste for Crowell and move on. The threat to pull security makes him look like a child. Take the opportunity to look like the stabilizing presence you are/ should be.
