Quote:If the draft falls like this we should try to pull off two trades as below ;

1) with Cleveland 4 & 68 for 12, 33, 65 & 108.

2) with San Francisco 12 for 34, 66 and their second pick in 2018.

We end up with this ,

33- Evan Engram

34 Christian McCaffrey

35 Dan Feeney or Cam Robinson

42 Carl Lawson

65 Larry Ogunojobi

66 Sidney Jones

108 Donte Freeman

110 Nathan Peterman

148 Teez Tabor

187 Michael Roberts

7th best FB and FS prospect available

We end up with a #2 in 2018 draft plus addressing every major area of need in decent fashion.

Thoughts ?
I get why Cleveland might trade up.

But why would San Francisco?

Who would they target at 12 and who are they trying to jump over?
It's interesting to me how disparate fans' opinions are about which players will or won't be available at the Jaguars picks in rounds 2 through 4.

I see lots of players being mocked to the Jags that I feel will likely be gone by the time they are on the clock. (not just this thread - but all over this forum)

Of course - after the Myles Jack situation - I understand some of that stuff happening. Still - I wonder if fans are taking websites like FanSpeak and First-Pick a bit too seriously. Those sites are a very poor prediction of what will actually transpire on draft day and it seems like a number of folks don't actually understand that.

Just a thought.

Agreed. I've tried to be very realistic with my choices.

RD1: Derek Barnett - DE - Tennessee

- If Garrett, Thomas & Allen all go before us at four it's plausible to think Barnett is a realistic choice. There's a chance we trade down a few spots if Carolina wants Fournette. Barnett has been slotted to go somewhere inside the top ten on several places I've looked. I like his highlights and his stat sheet. Got better and better ever year for the Vols.

RD2: Dan Feeney - G - Indiana

- Slotted and graded to be a 2nd RD player. He fits a need very early on.

RD3: Raekwon McMillan - ILB - Ohio State

- Another player slotted to go late in RD2 or early RD3. Could be the eventual successor to Paul inside. Solid tackler. Solid coverage man. Solid rusher. He's another good OSU prospect at the LB position.

RD4: Bucky Hodges - TE - Virginia Tech

- May be a one trick pony early on in his career which is why he's here early in RD4 IMHO. He has a huge frame to grow into but will need to fill out that frame to be a good balanced blocker off the edge.

RD5: Jerod Evans - QB - Virginia Tech

- Big kid. Good passer and runner. Very productive in 2016. Had he started more or stayed for his SR year he's probably a late first or early second round prospect in 2018. Would love to see him here during training camp to push Henne off the roster or Allen to the practice squad.

RD6: Corn Elder - CB - Miami

- Rumored to be linked to us not too long ago. Seems to be a solid nickel corner back. But he's very lowly rated on most sites that I've seen. Could be an excellent developmental player behind Ramsey, Bouye & Colvin. But we certainly need the depth and you can never have too many good nickel covermen.

RD7: Billy Brown - WR - Shepherd

- Small school prospect. Huge production. Big kid with solid speed for his size. Could honestly play TE if developed nice and easy. I like what he could bring to the table and with Robinson entering a contract year along with Lee I believe and with really only Hurns locked down long term and with Walters and Greene kind of always on the fringe. We could use the depth. Brown offers that here very later in RD7.

Got a couple comments

Bucky Hodges - If a team believes they can fix his blocking issues and they succeed, even with him being adequate, then he'd be a great pick. IMO they're not size related, they're more related to him not knowing how to block he's only played WR/TE the last 3 years.

Jerod Evans - good pick, very underrated accuracy.

Billy Brown - Has TE size like Hodges. Like Hodges he'll need to learn to be at least an adequate blocker. Unlike Hodges athletically can only be a TE unless he drops down from 255.

QB or Forrest Lamp.

I thought we were using this draft as a guide. There are several players that I picked who I do not believe will be there. There are also some that were not available to pick that I believe will drop down.
1st Leonard Fournette RB

2nd Cam Robinson OT

3rd Pat Elflein OG/C

4th Ryan Anderson OLB

5th Teez Tabor CB

6th Jerod Evans QB

7th Hardy Nickerson ILB
