Will you be more upset than normal if we lose to the Raiders this year?
for me personally I will be. I'm not hung up about sending Jack home with a L after coming back for the first time as a head coach, I just want Blake to play way better than Carr and silence the people who think Carr is better than Bortles. I also just think we overall have a better team than the Raiders.
I'll be upset about any loss. Real football fans and talk show hosts know that Bortles is a touch better than Carr.
well obviously im not trying to re-affirm the real fans and the talking heads opinions i want the dumb dumbs who think otherwise to get shown whats up. and i agree that any loss is a bad loss, but i dont think any of can deny it that this game has a feeling behidn it like its a little bigger than some of the other games. similar to how the titans games felt last year and will probably feel again this year. its not just squaring up against our most hated division rivals, its also going up against our ex-head coach mike mularkey.
Not really. In fairness Oakland and our team nearly identical. This game could go either way. Oakland will probably have the better defense overall by the time we meet during the year but nobody should be upset losing to a team like Oakland. Folks are actually pretty high on them this year. Same for us as well. I'll be more upset with a losing record more than anything. I expect this team to win at the minimum of eight games this year. Anything less than a .500 record and changes need to be considered sooner rather than later. If the ship starts sinking early (which very well could happen just based on the first month alone) this fanbase will be calling for blood and Gus Bradley's head. And going into year four. I am sorry. But there cannot be anymore excuses for him.

I understand your point here. However, 1 game will not be the determination of which of those QBs are "better" than the other (not by a long shot).
First of all: every QB has a good/mediocre/poor game at times, it happens.
Second: Bortles lost to Hoyer TWICE last season. Does that mean Hoyer is better than BB? Uh,,,no.
Third: I've seen Andy Dalton have a much better game against Aaron Rodgers/Green Bay when they played each other a couple seasons ago. Is Dalton better than Rodgers? Uh,,, no.
One game between Bortles and Carr will not finally determine which QB is better, no matter the outcome.
I will be more upset than normal by any loss this year because the team is better than normal. End of.
How can you be more upset with something you're used to?

No, not really. I'm depressed about almost any loss. I'm on cloud 9 after any win.
I'm not really big on this Bortles vs Carr stuff. That's offseason stuff. The regular season is all about the 16 games. Not just the one game against the one team. Anything can happen. Funny bounces, mistakes, turnovers, bad calls. If the Raiders win I'll be very upset, but not more than normal.

My thoughts as well. Right now the Jaguars and Raiders both good hot on paper as fans leaguewide are trying to decide which team is the true contender and which team is the pretender. The game should get plenty of hype as a result, and it easily could go either way. Should the Jaguars lose I'd be upset mostly that it's a hot-weather home game that they failed to take advantage of. Oakland is one of the most temperate places in the world with no real heat or humidity to speak of by comparison, so them having to travel so far to play in Florida should be a huge advantage for the Jaguars.

this.
Nah I'm numb to losses at this point. But wins are extra sweet.
I have a certain expectation about every game.
I expect the game against Oakland to be a very closely matched game. If we get blown out, I'll be sad. If we blow them out, I'll be elated. If it's close, I'll feel OK about it.
But, I'll be looking for certain things over the course of that game and the whole season, that could upset me.
Like,
If the Raiders game is close, but we lose because of dumb coaching decisions, and we lose a few other games for the same reason, I'll be really mad at the coach.
If we lose that Raiders game because Carr out-performed Bortles, and Carr ends up having a significantly better season than Bortles (barring injury) I'll be sad that we picked Bortles over Carr.
We will win that game 42-10.

Like candy? ;P
Depends on how well the Jags play, and who makes mistakes.
Should be a good game.
Nah I wouldnt, the Raiders are very similar to us but a year more advanced.
Honey, I'm heading over to the game. OK sweetie, enjoy your afternoon.
I expect a good game. I hope Bortles silences the critics in the Carr vs Bortles debate
