Nick Mangold is still sitting out there unsigned. He was arguably the best center for a good many years. If we got Mangold, we could move Linder to RG, Cann to left, pending what we do in the draft. I think he probably has something left in the tank. What do you think?

He was trash the last two years. Pretty much why he's still unsigned.

He was ProBowl in 2015 (i dont put a lot of weight on it either lol) but he was a PFF all pro in 2014. I know Tackles sometimes fall off the cliff and get bad real quickly but how do interior guys do? I feel like Meester was pretty decent until he was practically a dinosaur.

Jets fans seemed to think he was starting to fall of the cliff the last two years but still had games where he looked like prime Mangold.

I guess he still has something in the tank, just not sure it would be worth moving Linder for it.
Hes not good anymore
Nah, he old.
Wait til after the draft....

we may sign some aging vets yet...

If we don't hit on interior linemen I could see us giving Mangold a stop gap OG contract.

I don't think we're moving Linder away from Center.

Agreed.  They love the guy at Center.  It's pointless to move him to Guard and bring in a short term band aid for the position only to move him back when Mangold is done.
Question: Why don't the Jags sign Nick Mangold, and move Branndon Lindor back to RG?

then there's only 1 spot to fix on the O-line?

Mangold just look at the name how do you not sign him, its Mangold for expletive sake.

Because you'd have to fix center and left guard.

Name don't neutralize age.
Mangold is a better center than Lindor, and Lindor is a better RG than Mangold would be, that's two spots fixed automaticity, then the only question mark would be at LG,

Was, not is.
He's not good anymore, which is why he hasn't been signed.

Even if he could a provide a little help, someone would have signed him by now.

It's time to invest through the draft and build an offensive line.

Too old.. While i am sick if watching other teams QBs have double the amount of time to throw that our qb has, there isnt a magic FA thatll come save the day...

Id say kick the tires on him though if hes still available during preseason and our line still cant run block or pass protect for more than 1 second

So.... we have to way till somebody like the Patriots to sign him, to prove that we should have signed him? Wallbash You do realize that once another team signs him, the Jags can no longer sign him?  Rolleyes

It's "Linder."

And Linder is a better center than Nick Mangold by a wide margin. Mangold was about as good as Linder 4 years and 2 injuries ago. In 2017 he is no longer playing center on a level that compares favorably to Brandon Linder.

If Mangold could still play on a level similar to Brandon Linder he'd have either never been released by the Jets or he'd have been signed immediately by another team.

I'm guessing if you can't spell a player's name accurately, you can't identify a player's effectiveness accurately.

I disagree.

Chris Foo-a-mah-too-alfalfala was a true burner, and something this team has lacked since he retired. Id give Adrian Patterson a huge contract right now, something like 15 mil per. Then bench or trade Lindors truffle butt in favor of signing both Manhold AND his weight-lifting Olympian sister.
