There won't be a female James Bond for the simple reason that the James Bond movies make huge money in third world markets where the audience will not like a female James Bond.

The early Connery films were the best IMO.
I think Cate Blanchett should be on that list
- she would be a terrific Bond - and probably Gillian Anderson would too.
But they and the series' continuity would probably be better served if they were cast as a villain or another double 0 agent instead.
