I hope they can salvage Joeckel by moving him to LG. It won't be an easy adjustment considering he's never played it before but hopefully it works out as a stroke of genius.
Beachum-Joeckel-Linder-Cann-Parnell could be great if Joeckel and Linder's position moves work out.

Didn't know we had time travelers on this board too.

Luke is not a mauler, he is weak against the bull, and while he is serviceable in the run game at tackle it is a bit different inside at guard. It may work, may not... I see Luke settling in as a swing tackle/emergency guard, not great for a 1st round tackle but at least he will be of some use this year.

Gus said that they moved Luke to LG with the #3's meaning he was playing the position alongside scrubs.

given that Joeckel was too often beaten with a straight bull rush or by speed moves, I can't figure him being better suited to play guard. He lacks both size and strength so this move, if done, is a real 'head scratcher' for me.

Pass blocking at guard ya he'll prolly suck but as a run blocker we don't know he could flourish at left tackle he has to establish his guy an decide what the guy is gonna do by lookin at his hips hands eyes where if he's at guard run blocking anyway he's just got to put a hat on his guy get hand placement under the armpits an he's good unless he's getting bull rushed or blitzed he can always pass a stunt to the center or Lt imo

I think Joeckel could do well on the line outside LT. He didn't come into the pros run blocking like Monroe but he could slim down and still have enough power to play his gap at lg.

I don't mind him practicing with the #3s, etc, as a means to offer versatility during a game. Depending on who might be inactive, you may have a situation where you need Joekel to move over to LG due to an injury where Beachum would take over at LT. That is to say a few naps just so he's prepared is understandable, but surely they don't actually foresee him starting at LG.
Maybe Caldwell can trade for Parnell and Bernadeau's former teammate Ronald Leary...

LG position defined for Joeckel is not "Left Guard", it's "Left Grasping". He'd be left grasping for the DT as he's bullrushed backwards or thrown aside.
