A few comments on first OTA day for Fowler here: http://jacksonville.com/opinion/blog/400...=hootsuite
Main points:
Bradley was asked if Fowler has done things in the first two phases of the offseason that tell him Fowler’s athleticism has returned. Bradley’s smile told the story.
“Yes,” Bradley said. “In phase two, individual drill work, you see his explosiveness and his skill set. He’s really done a good job.”
Fowler was impressive on Monday, beating left tackle Luke Joeckel on a speed move inside. While the team is not in full pads, Fowler’s maneuver was eye catching.
“I can turn it loose,” Fowler said. “I felt pretty good, especially turning and thing like that. That was my biggest concern. It felt good getting back out there and being able to showcase some stuff. … It’s been a whole year, so I feel back. I still have to get stronger in certain areas and that will come back.”
Fowler is wearing a brace on his left knee. Without it, it would be hard to tell he’s coming back from a devastating injury.
“It felt good being able to make it through a practice and not having everybody worried and scared,” Fowler said. “We need a pass rusher. We need somebody that can get to the quarterback. That’s my job and that’s what I’m going to do.”
Bradley said Fowler would be managed the first couple of days to avoid a heavy workload, but said all indications are Fowler can handle whatever is asked of him.
Fowler also expressed regret again for a video that surfaced in February showing him watching two women fight. At the time, the NFL said it would investigate the matter, but Fowler has since been cleared.
“I talked to the NFL and it’s all settled,” Fowler said
