I just remembered that Chandler Jones was traded for a second round pick. I was among those that thought this would have been a good idea. Now I'm glad we saved our second round pick and took Jack! So, would you rather have Jones or Jack?
Myles Jack at 4 years/6 million or Chandler Jones with one year left on his contract.

Good question.

There are risks and rewards for both.

With Jones, you'd get a proven pass rusher, but with a higher veteran salary, shorter remaining contract, and off field issues.

With Jack, we have a versatile player, who could play 4-5 positions in a pinch, who gives us great pursuit and pass coverage, a lower salary, a younger player, more years left on his deal, no known off field issues, with a potential knee issue.

I'm glad we wound up with Jack.
Jack.  Chandler wouldn't re-sign here.  Jack may have durability issues but at least we can see how it fits for 4 years.

I wanted Chandler but in hindsight I'm glad we didn't make the trade since we got Jack. A few months ago, I would've told you that you were nuts if you said not to trade our 2nd rounder so we could draft Jack with it. Funny how things work out.
I still can't believe we got Jalen Ramsey and Myles Jack. Unbelievable.
I'm happy with the way things turned out, but it almost seems like front offices are overvaluing draft picks. One of the premier pass rushers in the league who can also hold up against the run, and he's still young - for a late 2nd round pick? The usual standard for a late 2nd round pick is probably getting a decent starter - a perennial Pro Bowler at one of the most coveted positions is a grand slam late in the 2nd. I understand the contract issue is hanging over him but a team with a clean cap situation like the Jags would be able to make it work. You can't build a roster this way but it's a smart move for the purpose of adding a vital missing piece.

Chandler Jones, easy. Jack has potential but Jones is proven and still young. Let's not pretend like Chandler Jones' price tag would be an issue, we have the $$. I'm not saying Jack doesn't have potential to be better for us because he does, but he's yet to play a down of pro ball
Jack.

Chandler is great but i feel good enough with the pass rushers we wound up with.
Jack! More upside. Maybe a higher chance of the unknown; but a higher ceiling.

GO JAGS!!

Jack.

Chandler Jones is a good player but a high 2nd rounder for a guy that has one year left on his deal? No thanks.

There is no guarantee he stays here.

Jack has high upside and he's six years younger than Jones.

Chandler Jones was traded for a low second.

Of course most of you are delusional homers here but I rather have Ramsey, Jack and C. Jones (trading our 3rd and 4th for Jones) than Ramsey, Jack, Yannick and Day.

I would too. But the Patriots wanted a 2nd. Not a high 3rd and 4th. They were already out of a 1st due to the deflategate deal.

I think just about everyone would take that option but that was not the question so not sure about the homer comment.

Well, Caldwell said teams in the back of the first wanted our second and our fourth for their pick, I am pretty sure we (or the Patriots) could have traded our 3rd and our 4th for a low second..

So you are talking pure speculation? Okay then.

Homer!

You have no clue!

Let's not pretend like the guy you're gloating over was cut from the team that drafted him for multiple issues, apparently on and off the field.

I'm sure the patriots were just trying to even the playing field by straight up cutting such a dominant pass rushing beast.

Come on people, wake up.
