Extra points

Am I the only one who really doesn't care? Did he lose us a game single handily? No. Did he miss XPs? Yea... A lot of them.


Did he boot a 58 yarder to win a game? Yup.


But the difference in wins this season will have nothing to do with Myers. It's Bortles taking the next step and the defense. If Myers can't kick this year, he gets replaced. Simple.

Someone actually said he should stay because he helped get Ramsey and Jack. How more idiotic can you become. If he shanks 6 or more extra points this year he'll be helping us get some more top 5 talent. How long do you wanna play that game with this chump who can't do that part of his job effectively?

Hindsight Im glad he missed due to how it affected the draft. But yea from here on out he needs to be a little more consistent

Ignoring the PATs. You can go either way. I really like Myers and hope he fixes the PAT issue because he has a rocket leg and if he can figure out his short game we have a really nice asset at Kicker again. 

If you could possibly overlook the PATs, his stats absolutely rocked for a rookie. The Colts game was a huge learning experience for the rookie and was unfortunate, and he had that one ugly shank from inside 30, but otherwise he rivaled some of the better kickers in the game. Of course you can't overlook the missed PATs, but you can expect that he's been concentrating on the 33-yard kicks so intently this offseason that they should be automatic for him next year. I can see Myers being a darn good kicker this year with one of the strongest legs in the league.


 

Having said all that, I don't believe he actually makes the roster because Oberkrom looks fantastic from what I've dug up on him so far.

Except, as has been pointed out, if you include the XPs as FGs then you're *still* looking at 84%.

Let's compare his rookie season to Scobee

 

Scobee Rookie year: 24-31  77% with a long of 53

Myers Rookie year: 26-30 for 86% with a long of 58

 

The one knack on Myers is the pat's but they were moved back this year and scobee didn't have to deal with that.  Explain to me the hate on Myers so I can see where some of you are coming from.

Why replace Myers? Because he costs us games that we should have won last season and we can do better than Myers for a kicker.

If you replace every player who makes mistakes - even game-costing ones - in their rookie season, then you will never develop as a team.

He's going to be the kicker. Better get over. The people clamoring for his head DO realize he was a rookie...right? I mean, every player at any position should come right out of the box playing like a 5-year vet.

Weird thought here.... How about we play better defense? Thats actually the primary reason we lost the amount of games we did. Not Myers.

Mostly because Oberkrom is a waaayyy cooler name

He got a pass his first season. He won't get it twice.

We can't just smash every team and not have to rely on our kicker for some points.
